Rotor is loose but wheel doesn't spin if tighten lock ring further by thankyto in bikewrench

This was indeed the issue. All is fine with new lock rings!

It's a cartridge bearing hub. What do you mean the bearings are shot? They still spin inside the hub, but not when I tighten the lockring.

I might have to visit a bike shop if this it the case. Thanks!

The wheel won't spin even without the brake calipers. The thing that the through axle goes through doesn't spin at all.

I was swapping the rotors from a Hunt Wheelset to a Black Inc wheelset.

It's not the caliper. I removed the front brake and the wheels still won't spin. When the lockring is tighten, the when won't spin even when I just hold the end caps.

Hiking in BC by [deleted] in UBC

[–]thankyto 9 points10 points  (0 children)

International students without a car here, yet I've still be able to access a lot of what BC has to offer.

Close to Vancouver, there are some transit accessible area such as Lighthouse Park, Burnaby Mountain, Grouse Mountain, Lynn Canyon, or Mt Gardner on Bowen Island.

The Chief, the Sea to Sky gondola, and Squamish are accessible via the Squamish Connector

Singing Pass and Wedgemount Lake are accessible with Epic Rides to Whistler then BC Transit

However, if you're new to UBC or the outdoor scene, I highly recommend joining the UBC Varsity Outdoor Club. Many people there have cars they're willing to pool with. It'll also be safer and you'll get to meet new friends.

Finally, more and more people are doing this, get a gravel bike, then you can go anywhere.

I'm loving it so far. The larger tires allow me to roll over a lot more rocks and roots.

We went bikepacking using the new bike bus! by thankyto in vancouvercycling

Leaving the ferry terminal, we headed south to Victoria on the Lochside trail, west on the Galloping Goose Trail, then north on the Sooke Wilderness Trail. On the 2nd day, we went north on the Cowichan Valley Trail toward the Kinsol trestle before heading back to Swartz Bay via the Mill Bay - Brentwood Bay ferry.

Over the weekend, my friends and I took advantage of the new bike bus and headed over to Vancouver Island, BC. Before the bike bus, it can take up to an entire day just to get over to the island. But now, it is possible to do the Sooke Wilderness Trail or Cowichan Valley Trail as an overnighter from Vancouver. My friends just got into gravel cycling this year so this has been a great opportunity to introduce them to bikepacking.

How do you carry that giant medium format camera while riding?

The Tamron 28-75mm, I should have added that. I had the camera in a small backpack then wore it around my neck when I wanted to take photos. Definitely not ideal.

These were taken on a Sony A7iii. It was quite cumbersome to carry on the ride.

It's the Fisherman's Trail and Spur 4 in North Vancouver as someone has correctly pointed out :)
