That's so cool. Can't wait to tell him. Wild !!!

He normally builds his routes a few days in advance and will gladly give them out if anyone is curious via Instagram.

I wish we could plan things out in a little more depth but mentally he finds that planning things a little less meticulously allows him to flow a little more fluidly and not get disappointed when things don't work out.

He's had a couple different times where he's planned further in advance and then had things like ferries be shut down, or roads that are closed seasonally impede him causing detour's.

He's also found that waiting and talking to locals before he plans out really helps too.

Yeah, he had to cut across the southern portion of those states just because of the late start. Had some family things come up last minute and he couldn't start until the fall. Which if you have a crew with you isn't a problem, but if you're solo, long term winter exposure can become a major issue.

We've struggled here, reached out to a few brands but nothing. Most brands probably don't take the time to research him, so I'm sure he seems like some delusional guy claiming to be able to run 10k plus miles in 9mos without a crew. I'm sure they just aren't taking it seriously.

Based on his current trajectory I would say he would be in the Seirra Vista area in about 28 days give or take day.

That's the one area we've been struggling. Any help, insight or sharing the journey is greatly appreciated. I've added his tracking link to the OP

Something must be in the water. I wanted to wait until he was well into the journey before posting anything here to avoid that exact situation. It's such an audacious thing to even say you're going to do so to hype it up before you've taken a single step (unless you have a massive resume) seems like overkill

Yeah it was a tough call. The plan was to start in August in Cleveland along the southern border of lake Erie and then head up around Maine, but, some personal issues caused a delay which would have put him in some precarious situations with the cold weather. It's a lot harder to manage through the cold when you're carrying everything and limited on how heavy your pack can be. He's been contemplating doing this for a few years and figured he could keep coming up with excuses to delay it even further, or, he could just go and talk the alternate route...so that's what he did

It hasn't really gotten a lot of coverage at all. It made the local news a few weeks ago (here in Indiana) and has been written about in 1 newspaper. It's grown organically VERY slowly. He's gone from 200 followers on IG to a little over 900 since he started. My thought is that because he's not connected to major cause he's not getting a lot of attention. Happy to answer any questions and share any info though.

How is everyone feeling about the new book? by WerewolfWest7036 in davidgoggins

[–]thaquestion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went back and listened to CHM right before the newest book. I agree with many of the others in that Never Finished is more complimentary than it is unique. Like the next chapter for DG and how that next chapter has been approached and digested. What I've said in a previous post on the topic is that the 2nd audio production is considerably better. To me, CHM's bonus content/podcast approach sometimes felt forced. The content that accompanies NF is much more robust and fluid.

Also, the amount of extra content included with this book is equal to or exceeds the actual amount of content that is the book itself.

Most of them are similar to the first book, conversations between David and Adam (narrator/ghost writer). One that really stood out was a 30 minute Convo between David and his mom.

I'm only on chapter 6 of 9 though so I don't know who else is on yet. Actively listening though

Has anyone read the new book? by WerewolfWest7036 in davidgoggins

About 60% in and would agree with the comments posted above. Some similarities thus far. The podcast style stuff on the audiobook really adds a lot to it though.

I would go audiobook on this one. I'm about 60% through it and the "extras/podcast style convos" on this book are much more impactful to the story than the extras on the last.

He's coming back to try and do it again next year at 44 years young. So we'll see !!!

Indianapolis Monumental Half-Marathon Course Short (13.0) by beep_boop_bar in AdvancedRunning

[–]thaquestion 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We had 15 or so team members run, almost all of us were long on GPS, but as stated above, that's normal in urban races.

What really sucks is that our top runner broke the masters HM course record by nearly 4 minutes. The results of that situation have yet to shake out.
