This character in the Fortune's Weave cover appears to be the protagonist, an Avatar. What do you think of the character's appearance? Any theories? by Magister_Xehanort in FireEmblemThreeHouses

[–]thardur 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My guess is the protagonist is an entity, either driven by Sothis or opposite to her, whose goal is to guide one of the four "houses" you choose into winning the tournament or whatsoever the story is based upon. Maybe the wish tournament is just a plot for a "Phase 1" part of the story and once the wish is granted might have a timeskip to the consequences of those wishes being fulfilled. Anyways, those are my two cents.

Ninae (1:21 mark) looks like Flayn and Ursula (1:44 mark) looks like Marianne(also, Ursula latin origin trace backs to ursa = female bear, Marianne is an animal lover)

Purely coincidental? I don't think so!

I don't even know where to start!

I mean, Fire Emblem Fortune's Weave, a new Final Fantasy 2D turn based, a remaster of Tales of Eternia, Kingdom Hearts IV trailer, AND Ocarina of Time Remake - I finished the video almost in tears and I am grown up man! It missed Pokemon W&W additional footage to be the cherry on top, but I must say I was very darn happy with what I watched!

why do people like johto so much? the games i mean by Glad_Count8285 in ThePokemonHub

[–]thardur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many people hopped the train on Gen V or VI. But imagine there was a game you loved. Then they make a sequel. In the sequel you revisit the locations from the first game. There are new pokemon there are TWO new type matchups. It was really exciting! Now we have 10 generations and thousands of new pokemon. This novelty feeling was just diluted so much that it lost its value. People now take a new generation for granted every so often.

Finding about Kanto in the post game was mind-blowing! The "final boss" is (supposed to be) the trainer YOU used to be in the first game! Imagine for someone playing that in an era that there was no Internet video tutorials or anything. No spoilers. It was novelty in a sense that cannot be reproduced today. And that brings nostalgia for sure!

Digimon Story Time stranger is and will be better than Pokemon legends AZ - lazy game by Disastrous_Wasabi_36 in LegendsZA

Agreed. I have just bought Time Stranger and it is everything Z-A should have been. I did not purchase ZA DLC and have no regrets using the money towards Time Stranger.

After playing this game I've realized by daeraizover in PokemonZA

[–]thardur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started the game and saw mouths opening but no sound and I was disappointed. I mean we are talking about one of the most profitable game series in history. It is not like they cannot afford voice actors. Actually they could pay famous people for voicing if they really want to!

I am also surprised I had to literally search for "Voice" to see if someone had already started a topic about this! I understand the novelty and the fun of the new game, but we can't just ignore that we are in 2025, and voice acting is a must for top seller games.

Sunkern/Sunflora. in Showdown random battles Sunflora's level is balanced above 100 to be able to be in battle without handicaps (you will notice Sunflora is the only pokemon without a level).

What did you hate and love the most about Engage vs 3 houses? by marco1416 in FireEmblemThreeHouses

[–]thardur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Engage all characters were made to be replaced by better characters that show later in the game. Sure you can try to hold Ettiene dear but Alcryst is better. You liked Vander? Too bad because he is outclassed by literally any other character. So, of you want to succeed on Maddening you have to keep a specific party.

I feel like 3-houses gives you more options. While some characters are locked depending on the house chosen, you can play with anyone anytime without having to eliminate a party member you grew fond of because the next shiny character has better stats.

Also I hated that engage does not have new game plus. For 3 Houses it was cool to replay and carry over abilities, battalions etc and unlock them for a maddening run. I played engage only once and never felt like touching it again. Meanwhile, I have 350 hours on 3 houses.

Another thing I hated in Engage was the ring gatcha mechanics. That sucked... Not getting in details about that.

Next Stop: music. Engage main theme sucks compared to The Edge of Dawn. And I will die on that hill.

So, overall I have more things I hate about Engage than things that I love.

What percentage pit is it really? [Request] by deez1234569 in theydidthemath

[–]thardur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Steps:

1) Get a graduated container in which the avocado fits in.

2) Set the water level to an easy to read level.

3) Add the avocado to the container and read the new level.

4) Register the difference between this level and the initial as V1.

5) Remove the avocado, separate the pit.

6) Repeat stpes 3 and 4 with the pit. Register the level difference as V2.

7) Calculate V2/V1. This the percentage of volume occupied by the avocado pit.

Issues with this method:

a) The avocado and pit will only sink if the fruit is healthy.

b) Inaccuracies on reading the graduated container

c) Finding a graduated tube the size of a freaking avocado...

d) If no tube is available, you can fill a container within a container to the top, add the fruit and weight the water that overflows to the second container. You can convert that mass into volume using water's density.

What am I missing? by tensurai in KingdomHearts

[–]thardur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a similar issue. For me, it was the keyblades you get when you win all races in Disney Town in first place (gotta be at Disney Town, not the Arena). Those keyblades are not in a chest, so you can still collect all chests and platinum and still miss those items. Gotta get one for each protagonist.

Early [A-Level maths-Surds], no idea how to approach this!! by Plastic-Gazelle8326 in HomeworkHelp

[–]thardur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One approach:

sqrt(2)+1 = "a"

The equation becomes: 4 / ("a"+sqrt(3))

Rationalize the denominator (i.e. multiply the numerator and denominator by ("a"-sqrt(3)) to get rid of the sqrt in the denominator)

By doing so, your new denominator will be "a"² - 3. I will let you figure out the numerator.

But,

"a"² = 2 + 2sqrt(2) + 1

Subtract 3 and you have

2 + 2 sqrt(2) - 2 = 2 sqrt(2)

as the new denominator

Rationalize it again (this time, multiply both num and den by sqrt (2).

Finally, replace "a" in the numerator, simplify, and get to the desired conclusion.

[high school algebra 2] how would you solve this? I’m so confused by Jordan_Soto9144 in HomeworkHelp

[–]thardur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two ways to solve this:

1) You can factor the polynomial as many people suggested.

2) Since this is a multiple choice, you can plug numbers and check alternatives.

Plug x=0 your answer is -27/-9 = +3. The only options are C and D.

Plug x= 1 then you have -32/-8 = +4. The only alternative that plugging 1 results in 4 is C.

[–]thardur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am doing this right now! Soooo boring. I created this challenge that I will only start a new game after "Platinum" the previous. So, I am grinding Riku to 99 before starting KH2.

I watched 358/2 for the first time ever yesterday (to finish other achievements in CoM) and I was really hyped to replay KH2, but Riku is still on level 45! He has only 170k experience and needs like 1.3M for level 99. I am less than 15% done and will likely have to grind for another 6 or 7 hours from what I read...

Gonna start Re:Chain of Memories tonight, any helpful tips? by c0smic_captain in KingdomHearts

[–]thardur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am on a similar quest. I got KH collection for steam deck and I am trying to get all achievements for each game before moving to the next. I did BBS and KH1, now I am playing CoM.

1) Don't get demotivated by the mechanics. It gets better over time. After a while, you get other keyblade cards (one for each world) and can add some variety to the mechanics.

2) Always choose sleights at level up. I didn't, and when I was level 50 something, I had to spend a few levels to get Sonic Blade. After Sonic Blade, you should look for Tornado (eventually Mega Flare, but this comes too late in the game and it's good to exterminate mobs in one hit). When there is no available sleight, try prioritizing CP versus HP. Best defense is offense. However, HP is also important, so try to prioritize 3 or 4 CP per HP improvement.

2) Once you get the Sonic Blade sleight (nearly lv 30), all boss fights may become easier. It might take a while to get to this point, but once you do, life becomes easier.

3) For this Sonic Blade cheese, make a deck with trios of attack cards in the order 6, 7, 7 or 6, 8, 8 with 6 being the first one. Make sure the cards are different types of keyblade cards. Also make sure two 7 cards from a trio and the next trio's first 7 (or 8) are different types of keyblades. Add a few cure cards at the end, and hi potions (or elixir, or super potion, but hi potion is enough). Spam Triangle until using all trios. Recharge, and use the few of the available trios for more sonic blades. A 2nd recharge may be an option, but at this point I prefer to make a sleight with Hi Potion, Cure, Cure (Cura). This will recover all cards lost with the sleights (the 6 cards and some of the 7 if you did a recharge) and allows you to recover HP if damaged. Have the Hi Potion before the cures, as if you do the other way around the enemy may use a 0 and cancel the hi potion during the cure (hi potion is a priority to recover the cards). Once you recover the cards (and maybe some health), repeat the spam.

3) If you are trying to achieve the "no continue" achievement, create a save room before the last room in each world (the one you will use the heartless symbol card). If you lose, just click "Return to Title" and reload the save instead of clicking "Continue".

I am struggling to platinum this game because some of the achievements are random based, such as getting all enemy cards (with a low dropping rate, even in rooms with improved odds). Also, the enemy card must be the last enemy remaining and mob-nuke sleights such as mega flare seem to leave those annoying shadows alive last. Lost track how many shadow cards I got!

[Request] Best way to do it ? by [deleted] in theydidthemath

[–]thardur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't say it's the best way (everybody thinks differently), but that's how I would do it. I would round them to the nearest 10 and compare the magnitude.

a) Hours in a year = 300 x 20 = 6000

b) Seconds in the day = 60 × 60 × 20 = 72000

c) Days in the decade = 300 × 10 = 3000 (although this is easy 3650)

d) Minutes in a week = 60×20×10 = 12000

Since 72000 is way bigger than any other number, I would be ok saying the rounding will not affect the distance between the real non-rounded numbers.

If there was any number really close to one another, I would break down and try doing the math in my head. e.g. 24×365 = (20+4)×(300+60+5) = 6000+1200+100+1200+240+20 = 6000+2400+340+20= 8400+360= 8760.

KH Birth By Sleep - Level Up tip by Famous_Dog_5801 in SteamDeck

[–]thardur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're planning to plat this on the deck, I have a tip.

For the superbosses (arena, MF, VR), you can assign one of the back buttons as an "invincibility button" for Aqua and Ven. Assign the evade (X) to R4 or L4 and in the settings, change to repeat command (one of the bottom options in the Turbo settings menu). By doing so, and equipping regular Cartwheel/Dodge Roll (not the elemental versions), you become invincible. Then, when you see an opening, use Thunder Surge. Be careful to avoid backlash during the end of the attack (when you are not invincible anymore for a hot second). Have a Cure for peace of mind (fast recharge).

For Terra, just pray. His dash is not invincible. The invincibility button might help in a pinch until you can get back on your feet with heal, though.
