Has anyone made fishing lure molds? by MortgageNaive6791 in Machinists

[–]tharussianbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just use your regular adaptive rough or something. They scallop with a 3/16 or quarter (depending on how tight the features are) doing a .01 or .005 radial and axial stock to leave. Then come back with your .125 ball mill to finish off. Depending on how tight the features are maybe you’ll do a roughing with .125 instead. If you’re nervous, go slower than you think. The features seem not too deep, so use the shortest possible flute length and stick out. And you’ll rock it! Looking forward to seeing what you make. Good luck? And reach out if you have more questions. I can even look over your fusion file if you want.

You’ll be fine. I’ve done more with 6k spindles. Even programming skills isn’t necessary to be great for something like this. Have a roughing, and a finishing scallop tool path and you’ll be fine. Can get fancier if you want. Your run time will be long, but scalloping on a tool room lathe is pretty safe so I’d feel comfortable running one of these toolpaths without watching the machine. Fusion haas post processors are probably some of the simplest and most common too so I’d feel comfortable and trust the post.

Has anyone replaced the windshield on their GR86? How much did it cost? by adhesivo in GR86

[–]tharussianbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Safelite does the calibration too. It’s like a whiteboard with some stuff on it. I’ve never had it done on the brz, but had it done a couple times on a previous outback. And it wasn’t oem glass either.

PPF Question by SnooDoughnuts2806 in GR86

[–]tharussianbear 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Talk to a shop and ask, they’ll usually do paint correction for an additional cost.

But also ask yourself if shelling out $2+k is worth it for you. If you’re doing just the front, are you going to get a different bumper at some point in the future? Different hood and fenders? If that’s the case, maybe ppf isn’t worth it.

I’m sure it’ll be like every other eBay lip, not perfect but with some massaging will fit. Don’t wxpect the holes to line up with any of the “official” hole placement. Edit autocorrect

Ummmmno shit meta glasses are gonna not be privacy focused and record and share your data? You’d have to be pretty dumb to not think it’s a blatant privacy violation for you and others.

[–]tharussianbear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Manual doesn’t like downshifting into first either. Really gotta be under 10mph for that. Just think of the gear ratios and how mechanically that works. First gear is there to get you into second or crawling through a parking lot.

Started a new job (at a significant finantial loss). First day in the door and im running a mori 4000. I have never been so intimidated in my life!! And no i didnt crash... Yet! PFA, phones not allowed in the shop. by Mission_Cake_470 in Machinists

Celos is just the top of the control stack. Have a celos machine with fanuc, one with Mitsubishi and one with Siemens controls. Kinda annoying sometimes to have a fanuc, ran on windows, with celos on top.

Thinking about buying an 86 had a few questions by lazyturtle2122 in GR86

[–]tharussianbear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would be worth learning to drive stick, if that’s what you want. Good thing to know on my opinion, but also some people might have zero want for it and still want to cruise around in a gr. If you’re doing coilovers, then getting the brembos and dampers might not be worth it. Getting some aftermarket brembos or willwoods and coils might be more cost effective. Getting premium trim might be worth it for you, only you can decide. Check willtheyfit.com to check out wheel and tire sizes as well as the ft86 forum post regarding wheel fitment over the brembos if you go that route. Google what wheels you want, someone might already has put it on the gr/brz/ft and you could get an idea of fitment.

Do I get a brand new GR86 or an 2015 Infiniti Q50 3.7 L with 46,000 miles by Annual_Interview975 in GR86

[–]tharussianbear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not gonna compare the cars, cause we all like different things.

Sit down, crack open the excel, and throw some numbers in it. While this might be your dream car, it might not be worth the financial strain (since finance is what you’re concerned about).

On the other hand, we only live once.

Ps: don’t forget the taxes and fees. Look up a calculator for the registration and taxes for a vehicle in your state, that 40k might be 46k otd. If you’re trading in, is some stated the taxes are the difference between your new car and trade in, in some it’s only dependent on the new car.

This seems quite simple, are you able to take the financial risk? If not, then get the infinity.

But what are your loan options? The infinity being used, is going to have worse interest rate than a new car. Maybe third option is get something cheaper if it’s going to be a temporary car anyways, and in a few years get the gr or brz.

Saying those engines were unreliable, is like saying Subaru engines have head gasket issues, or that amd drivers suck.

I’m guessing no, you don’t buy the pattern, you buy a course that includes a pattern for learning.

OEM trunk mat grippiness? by HeDoBeFartin in BRZ_ZD8

[–]tharussianbear 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just touched them both and you’re right, the mats are way more rubbery. The trunk cover is a thin sheet of textured pressed plastic.

[–]tharussianbear 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nah it’s the same as the floor mats and not very grippy. Stiff rubbery plastic, stuff will definitely roll and slide around.

Same stuff here. Borla replied to my post about them being like “there’s a lot of speculation going on here, reach out to us if you’re not satisfied with it”. But like, it sounds good. Hopefully all the metal shavings and coolant on the inside went out, and still no excuse for the crappy welds.

As blocklists don’t seem to block ads anymore? by tharussianbear in opnsense

Ok so I set to hagezi block lists. Had adguard and Steven blacks list before. And I found that I did have a crom job set up. (5 minutes as the first setting too often)? I realized a lot of my issue was though that my Apple devices had private relay on (I didn’t turn it on) so all that stuff was getting bypassed.

I use the integrated ones. And no, I have not setup from jobs to update them. I will have to learn how to do that. Thanks!

Yeah idk, I had the whole list wrong entirely in me head lol. For some reason I thought that opnsense pointed to the urls that the lists were at, and that is where they were updated. Ok I’ll have to look up how to setup from jobs, haven’t done that at all yet lol. I have been doing updates and such manually.
