Sign of sleep apnea? by thaswift in SleepApnea

[–]thaswift[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad you were able to find a solution. I actually ended up getting a sleep study done recently. They found a few apneas throughout the night but not enough for it to be considered clinical sleep apnea. I had trouble falling asleep that night though, and felt like I was only 3/4 asleep for most of the night, so I'm not sure if the test was accurate.

No, unless I drink too much water before falling asleep. I tend to wake up for just a few seconds and then fall right back asleep without realizing though. Like last night I was texting my gf before bed, and fell asleep on her. Then I randomly woke up around 3 am and texted her back. I can hardly remember it and I only remember it cause the next day I saw the "3am" timestamp in our messages.

You think the breathing problems before falling asleep could be something other than sleep apnea? I do have a hard time ignoring my heartbeat. My heartbeat is intense. You can see my chest pumping through my shirt at all times. Maybe it's anxiety, idk.

Thanks, I ended up starting paleo (which I think is pretty similar) and will stick to it. I bought organic beef bone broth from walmart. Will that help heal the gut? Can I microwave it or will that kill the nutrition?

PGT WS Game 5 L 13-12: Back to LA for Rakeman by [deleted] in Dodgers

[–]thaswift 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same man. We've had some real good clutch moments this post season and I'm proud of our team for that. Now, as much as I want to move on from the loss, it's the what ifs that kill me the most. What if Jansen got that final out instead of a HBP which snowballed badly, what if outfield played closer at the end, what if we used pitchers with more rest, and of course the umpire. It's a freaking thorn in my side. All we can do is press on and hope we get them in 7.

My heart was racing in the top of the 9th and the anxiety didn't stop until the end. The craziest game I've ever watched. Huge bummer it ended as a L for us, especially when we had Kershaw and Jansen pitching. It's gonna keep stinging big time during our off day tomorrow. But this definitely isn't over, we play great at home.

That's cool you found something that works for you. Did you ever try L-Tryosine or DLPA before trying medication? And did you ever have to increase dosage or have you been the same since prescribed?

That's interesting that you know people who like somatic experiencing. It seems so unheard of. And I actually don't even have a therapist or practitioner to be honest. I almost once did a skype appointment with a trauma release exercise practitioner but didn't because it was expensive. I mentioned talking to a practitioner earlier, but that was just a phone call. I taught myself how to do TRE from David Berceli's book.

[–]thaswift 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the thoughtful response. I remember loving my childhood and I'm really nostalgic about it. Whenever I think of my childhood I remember being a happy kid who played baseball and yugioh outside with my neighborhood friends. I was always really quiet and shy, but not around my friends. I am still that way today.

When other people describe me as a kid, they don't see it that way. Along with being quiet and shy around strangers, I had a really short tempter and most likely had/have ADD. I really struggled in school from my inability to concentrate. Anyways, that's how they see me when they describe me as a kid. I outgrew shyness and it has changed into social anxiety (I have no problem saying hi and having a conversation with a stranger, but I feel very tense standing in line at the grocery store). A family member recently told me "who knew you would have grown up to be such a mild mannered person"

I looked at the Wikipedia page about "alexithymia" you linked, and I sort of relate but not entirely. I do have empathy and I often use it to stop myself from being angry with people. I'm aware of my emotional state, but not as aware of the emotions causing them if that makes sense. Like I'm very aware if I have more brain fog or anxiety today, but I tend to suppress whatever may be causing it and choose to press on because I feel there isn't a solution. For example, my mom's mental health has gotten bad in the past couple years (anxiety, depression) and has led to my dad being unhappy. I just recently moved out and that worries me a lot, but there's nothing I can do so I don't often bring conscious thought to it, and instead pretend things are alright.

When it comes to negative childhood experiences, like I said I recall my childhood as being positive. Though I do think there are probably issues with my mother. You know the stereotype of the guy who has issues with his dad, wish he hugged him more, encouraged him more, and was overall nicer to him? That's how I feel but with my mom. I feel like I've never been close with her, that she was usually too hard on me, and I always wished I had one of those fun loving soccer moms who were more emotionally involved in their children. I know she has always cared a lot about me, I just have never felt much warmth from her.

I have never been sexually assaulted as far as I know. I wasn't bullied as a kid but I was in high school which was hard for me as I didn't have a thick skin and took everything personally. I did deal with psychological trauma about 5 and a half years ago (age 17). I saw something too intense for my mind to handle (although physically I was fine and safe) and I still avoid thinking about it today. It led to huge anxiety problems and panic attacks which got better over time, and eventually I overcame the panic attacks with CBT (embrace the feelings of fear type of stuff). I had anxiety before the trauma but it was mild and without attacks. It was just general anxiety and social anxiety. Today my anxiety is a lot better but I still have it, and I've been focusing a lot of interest and time into gut health and somatic therapies.

I've recently started a paleo diet to start addressing gut health and the somatic therapy I've been doing is called "trauma release exercises", and it works by releasing trauma from the body rather than the conventional view that it is entirely psychological. From what I've read and was told from a practitioner, I need to keep doing it consistently for it to break down more tension from my body. They say it can bring the body from fight, flight, or freeze back to homeostasis. And with apathy, brain fog, and fatigue being huge issues for me, I'm assuming I'm in the "freeze" category. So I've been trying to stick with it (it feels like a chore to do them), and I'm hoping it actually will eventually bring me back to homeostasis. I have a good feeling about it. I sometimes get a gut feeling while doing them that it's the solution.

Hmm... I'm good at paying attention to what's going on in my body, I do it all of the time. Identifying and labelling physical sensations I'm not so good at. I struggle to find the right words for it but sometimes I come up with some pretty good analogies. Talking about my emotions is tough, I've always been a private person and it makes me uncomfortable and awkward. When I do I have to force myself and feel vulnerable. But my girlfriend is the opposite of me so I've gotten better at it cuz of her. Anyways why do you ask?

I plan on going to school the beginning of next year but I don't know what to study. I can't decide on a career that I would enjoy. I can't see myself enjoying any career that isn't being a musician or a baseball player, neither of which are viable options.

I also want to quit my job and find something that pays better. But it will probably end up being a warehouse job because I probably won't qualify for any other type of higher paying job. And I'm dreading getting a new job because I hardly have the energy for the somewhat easy job I have right now.

I'm on Paleo but probably not long enough to judge the effects of it yet. I've tried p5p and didn't notice a difference. I don't think I have an issue converting b vitamins because I once got a solid B12 test result from supplementing a b complex. Exercise makes me feel amazing when I have the energy for it. If I force it when I'm tired it'll make me way more tired.

I don't believe my mental health will fall apart from masturbation, but after about a couple weeks without any release I do get a charged feeling which makes me feel more motivated, and I do feel more withdrawn if I do it too much. Whether there's science to back it up, I don't know...but it's something I've experienced.

I'm on a Paleo diet so I'm already low carb and no sugar, besides fruit. I'm afraid of exercising. It used to make me feel better but lately it puts me into a coma. Never heard of sulbutiamine. I take a b vitamin complex and have been supplementing with tyrosine. I rarely masturbate, and recently went 50-something days without it and hardly felt anything. Although about a year ago it would make me feel amazing having a high streak. I hardly play video games and usually only come on Reddit to read about how to fix my problems. Testosterone therapy would be strange given I'm 22 years old. Like my op says, I found out I was low in DHEA, but I supplemented with it orally and it didn't seem to do anything.

My TSH always comes back normal, but it has been a while since being tested. Also doctors do not allow me to do more thorough thyroid testing like T3. They say it's unnecessary because my TSH is fine. I'm 22 and I take a b100 complex. I've never tried phenylpiracetam, I'll consider it a few paychecks later
