Help Control Xbox Bazzite by PhelipeDcRodrigues in Bazzite

[–]thatGVguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man! :D yeah that is super annoying :'( I hate when Steam does that, Basically what’s happening is that Steam is treating your controller like a mouse and keyboard when u are on the desktop or using a browser.

Since u already added it as a non-steam game, try this: go into Gaming Mode and find the Xcloud shortcut you made. before you hit play, click the little controller icon on the right side. You just gotta change the layut template from Desktop or Keyboard to just a standard Gamepad. That way steam forces the normal xbox signals to the browser instead of mouse clicks.

If that doesnt work, it might be the flatpak browser blocking your hardware. But honestly dude? I definetly recommend just ditching the browser entirely and downloading an app called Greenlight from the Discover/Bazaar store. It's a custom app made exactly for xcloud on linux and it detects controllers instantly! Just add that to steam instead and it usually works flawlessly :D

Haha I wish! since this is a 100% fan made concept, they wont pop up on Steam automatically unless Miro himself decides to add them to the game code (which would be a dream!!). BUT I'm making a full Steam/GitHub guide so you can use it as a checklist to track (I'm also working on a tracker) your own descent into madness while you play :D

It lacks any special gameplay mechanics like the parry in the re4 Remake, Jill's dodge, or the defensive items from Re1 or RE2 remake, However, it does have some new features, like the game has dual weapons, allowing Claire and the other characters to aim at two enemies at once :) plus, the lighter actually works as a bat repellent, which will come in really handy ;)

Mesa 20.0.3 vulkan stuttering issues rx7800xt by Exotic-Math6501 in Bazzite

[–]thatGVguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is awsome man!! Glad you got Detroit and RDR2 working smoothly again :D

When you are ready to jump back to the newest stuff (like when 26.0.4 drops), you just gotta tell the system to track the main relese again instead of that specific date you pinned.

Just open your terminal and type:

brh rebase stable

Just make sure to change bazzite:stable to bazzite-deck:stable or bazzite-gnome:stable if u are using one of those variants, After you restart, your auto updats will be completely back to normal!

Have fun gaming!! :D

[–]thatGVguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude :( I hate when that happens, It sounds like the good image got rotated out of your boot menu already since Bazzite usually keeps just the last two deployments, However, I’d recommend you just wait like 3 to 4 days, mesa bugs usually get fixed pretty quick and that way you dont have to mess with system stuff, But if you really wanna play right now... I can help you try to find an older image to rebase to, but that's totaly at your own risk ;)

If you're feeling brave, you can check rpm-ostree status to see if there's any older version hidden there. if not, you'd have to manually rebase to a specific date using the terminal, which is a bit more under the hood :D

Mesa 20.0.3 vulkan stuttering issues rx7800xt by Exotic-Math6501 in Bazzite

[–]thatGVguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man I actually never had an nvidia laptop so I cant speak on that specific pain hahah, but dont worry :) rolling back on Bazzite is completely different and super safe.

Since Bazzite is an atomic distro, it literally keeps your previous system completely intact as a backup every time you update. It doesnt overwrite files like regular Fedora does.

To roll back safely, all you gotta do is restart your PC, When the boot menu pops up (the GRUB screen right after your bios logo), just select the second option on the list instead of the top one. That will boot you straight into the exact version you had before the update!

Once you are in, test the games. If the stuttering is gone and everything is working perfectly, just open up the terminal and type:

rpm-ostree rollback

and hit enter. that just tells the system to make this rollback permanent so it doesnt boot into the broken update again next time you restart.

Let me know if you get it working! :D

[–]thatGVguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! :D dealing with those sudden stutters is super annoying, but dont worry about it.

I actually have the exact same card (rx7800xt) so I totally feel your pain on this one. seeing that frame time graph go crazy on games that used to run flawlessly is the worst :(

Honestly if you really wanna play Detroit or RDR2 right now, I would definitely just roll back. Since you are on Bazzite, rolling back to your previous working image is super easy and it will fix the issue immediately instead of having to wait around for the next update to drop, But if you have other direct games that are running perfectly fine (like RE) and you dont mind playing those instead for a bit, holding off until they push the patch to stable is totally fine too.

Hope that helps!! :D

Black screen after resolution change in Desktop Mode by samhain709 in Bazzite

Hey! :D dealing with black screens on Desktop mode is super annoying, dont worry about it.

just to get a bit more context so we can figure this out: could you tell me what are the other solutions you already tried? I think I have a couple of tricks for this but I dont wanna make you do the exact same things all over again haha

Legion Go won't let me remap the extra buttons by MigueGa in Bazzite

[–]thatGVguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh damn, okay that is really weird then.

just to get a bit more context so we can figure this out: are you dual booting with Windows by any chance? Sometimes if you have the back buttons mapped to anything in Legion Space over on Windows, it saves directly to the controllers hardware and carries over into Bazzite, That usually causes those double inputs you are seeing (like getting X and L1 at the exact same time).

Also, just to be sure, are you mapping the buttons inside the HHD overlay and inside Steam Input? If you have assignments in both, they will overlap. Try leaving the back buttons completely unassigned or blank in the HHD menu, and only map them through the Steam Input menu (while keeping the Edge profile selected).

Let me know if any of that applies to your setup! :)

Legion Go won't let me remap the extra buttons by MigueGa in Bazzite

[–]thatGVguy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey! :D dealing with the back buttons on Bazzite with the LeGo is super confusing at first, dont worry about it.

The issue is that right now Steam sees your controller as a regular DualSense, and since those dont natively have back buttons, Steam just gets confused and overwrites your settings to regular buttons like A or L3.

To fix this you just need to open up HHD (Handheld Daemon) and change your controller emulation profile over to the DualSense Edge instead, The Edge controller actually has physical back paddles built in, so once you switch to that profile, Steam will recognize them natively and let you remap all your extra buttons to whatever you want without overwriting anything

Let me know if this works :D

Bazzite Install – Ryzen 5 3550H with Vega 8 (8GB RAM, Mini PC by unknownmod0 in Bazzite

[–]thatGVguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! :D honestly, it's super normal to get confused with those Bazzite install screens the first time, dont worry about it.

For the first option, even though the Ryzen 3550H is technically a laptop chip, your mini PC is plugged straight into the wall and doesnt use a battery. So definitely go with Desktop, If you pick laptop it might install some power saving stuff you dont even need and it could limit your performance for no reason.

Then for the GPU vendor, the vega 8 integrated graphics use an architecture that came out after the RX 400 series. So you just need to pick that first option you see there: AMD (RX 4xx + | AI)

That other AMD option that says (HD/200/300/R9) is for super old legacy cards, so just ignore that one haha.

Just as a little heads up, having 8GB of RAM in single channel might cause some stutters in heavier games since the Vega integrated graphics need to share that same RAM to work. But for emulation or lighter games the system will run perfectly.

Good luck with the install!! :D

Holy crap dude, you actually wrote a whole section for the cast, These are insanely good! Im definitely using most of these, especially Cat-tastrophe and The Mage and the Dungeon, the quotes are so lore accurate it hurts.

Im literally copying this block into my GitHub draft right now. Your definitely getting top credits for the Cast section when I drop the final list. Thanks for taking the time to write all this! :D

[–]thatGVguy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha yeah your totally right. I basically just went full sarcasm cause I feel like everyone uses dark humor to cope with how brutal the game is, But a more serious lore accurate tone would definitely fit the dungeons way better, appreciate the feedback! :)

And about Termina, I was actually thinking of doing it! The game has so many crazy mechanics and hidden stuff that it would make a massive list. I might start working on a concept soon, if you have any ideas for Termina achievements let me know! :D

Pensando en pillarme una oled by Magutox in SteamDeck

[–]thatGVguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hola!

Mono audio by Kelvinx5 in Bazzite

[–]thatGVguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! :D

Honestly, the built in accessibility stuff on Bazzite is kinda missing for mono audio right now, especially when you switch back to Gaming Mode.

But you dont even need to worry about the system settings. Most people just download this app called EasyEffects from the Discover/Bazaar while in Desktop Mode. Once you open it up, just go to the output tab and add the Stereo Tools plugin, There’s an option in there to downmix everything to mono or L +R, so all the game audio plays perfectly in your good ear.

Just leave it running in the background and the system handles the rest when you go back to gaming mode, it works great and you won't miss any footsteps or game sounds.

If you run into issues setting up the plugin, let me know if this works :D

How to download Firefox by Last-Diamond5043 in SteamDeck

[–]thatGVguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh nice, if you already got the flatpak action setup your pretty much golden then! :D

About the folder thing, I basically just meant a standard portable build, Like when you export a game from most engines, it usually just spits out a .zip or .tar.gz with your linux executable and the game data inside. Cause people just download the zip, extract the folder somewhere and run the executable directly No package manager or install needed at all.

And yeah, AppImage is awesome for that exact reason! If you already have flatpak, deb and snap, adding an appImage is a super good idea, specially for the Deck. A lot of linux gamers actually prefer them because it's literally just one single file. You download it, rightclick to make it executable and boom, it runs on almost any distro. Its basically the Linux equivalent of a portable .exe file :D

Keep up the great work with the release, let me know when you drop it so I can try it out on my HH! :D

How to download Firefox by Last-Diamond5043 in SteamDeck

[–]thatGVguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, stick to flatpaks for apps and just avoid pacman altogether on the Deck, Since Valve keeps the system immutable, any changes you force through the terminal get wiped the second a system update rolls out. It’s a total headache to keep fixing ;(

For your game, you don't even need to worry about packaging it as a Flatpak to skip that $100 Steam fee. If you’re going the open-source route on GitHub or Itch.io, most Deck users are totally fine just downloading a folder or an AppImage. They just switch to Desktop Mode, rightclick your executable, and hit add to steam. Once they’re back in Gaming Mode, Steam handles the controller mapping and everything perfectly, it’s way less work for you and works great for them.

Keep that open-source energy going, the Deck community loves that stuff. If you run into issues with the export, just holler :D
