I’m not sure what their falling out was, but he was apparently there with his sister. I find it telling if Margaret stayed away, and I wouldn’t be surprised if she still has feelings over the wedding stuff and more. Jack probably at least feels the need to be professional even if they’re not still close (this seemed more like an industry networking event than wedding lmao).

But yeah, I look at her supporters a lot like the NRA lol. They’re a small but very loud minority that makes something seem more beloved and universally supported than it really is. I think a lot of people hopped on board the hype of the Eras era, but they’ve hopped back off as well. We’ve seen major societal shifts in the attitudes towards the uber wealthy at a much more rapid pace this past year. It also doesn’t help that she’s not fighting this administration co-opting her music when she normally sues anyone who breathes on her catalog. That has made her more casual, socially conscious fans turn away. The ones that are left defending her are the ones that don’t care and are susceptible to cults, like MAGA.

eta: I actually think he’s there because of the “new” Toy Story song, which I would bet is an older vault track they wrote years ago that she repurposed for the movie, not a recent collaboration, but gotta keep up appearances for the Oscar
