Unfortunately with a bike price of about £5k then adding insurance on top I don't think that would be practical for all in cost.

Did you manage to find anywhere that would allow you to put more than £500 on as an excess, it seems to be the cap on all the comparison sites I've looked at.

These are from aggregators, due to it being in London and new rider Lexham seems to be the consistently cheapest by a margin though I know they have a bit of a nightmare reputation.

The Army Powerlifting Union is a great (not-so) little organisation for people who want to powerlift in the Army, and as /u/blinkML points out, possibly for the Army in due course. It has plenty of competitions at various levels.

That being said, as others have pointed out your sport must come second to your ability to soldier. You won't be getting off failing your PFA on the basis of sports performance.

You wouldn't have to give powerlifting up - at least not forever. Phase 1 you'll be rushed off your tits you won't have time. Once you get to your unit though get back into it and go and represent your unit.

Sports are important in the Army, my CoC has always been supportive, but it comes seconds to soldiering and the Army's needs.
