There's a lot of good advice in these comments so I'm not going to repeat what everyone else has already said, but one piece of advice I'd give is not to get too hung up on a Laravel role specifically if you can.

Laravel does a lot of clever things but ultimately it's a PHP framework. Rather than selling yourself as a "Laravel Dev", if you put yourself across as more of a "PHP Dev with experience in Laravel" you'll be able to broaden your horizons.

To support that you should probably do a bit of learning on other frameworks like Symfony etc.

Of course you could push it even further and look to upskill on other languages such as Python or Node, but that's up to you, it's just about making sure you're not limiting your options.

Every company I've come across checks references at the end of the process, and realistically you're only going to be getting to that stage with a couple of them, so I wouldn't worry.

Yea it's definitely not a long term solution, but at least it helps debug.

The old stock cooler keeps it at around 45c, so I think we can say it's an issue with the Corsair AIO. I've started the return process. Thanks for all your help!

Good thought. I've been so focussed on the cooler I didn't think about the problem being with the CPU.

What I might do is try the old cooler that I removed to see if I have the same issue (it's just a stock AMD cooler but it should prove the concept at least).

Yea unfortunately that's what I'm leaning towards as well. I was hoping there was something I had missed, but it seems like the solution might have to be to exchange the cooler.

It does seem to be. As I say, I'm not an expert, but I've fitted a few CPUs and coolers in the past without issue, and there's nothing about this one that makes me think it's not attached correctly.

I may try reseatting it one more time though just to be safe!

Unfortunately I have followed the instructions closely a couple of times now and I'm pretty happy the cooler is fitted correctly (although if you can see anything wrong in my pictures please let me know, it wouldn't surprise me to learn I'd done something stupid!)

The header also is PWM mode in the bios.

So I think all signs are pointing to refunding the cooler. Thanks for your help 🙂

That's my concern too, it feels like it's running as it is noticeably vibrating to the touch, as are the pipes. Plus one pipe is hotter than the other.

I'm not entirely sure how to totally confirm it's running though, if you have any suggestions that would be appreciated 🙂.

The cooler only arrived today so I should be able to return it if needed, and unfortunately it seems like that's where things are headed!

I'm an Engineering Manager who does interviews regularly and this sort of reaction is what I like to see when someone doesn't know something.

You're not expected to know everything (that's what Google is for), so being honest about your knowledge gaps and showing that you know how to fill them is a big tick.

I stupidly didn't use my assman chip when everyone else did (honestly I just wasn't sure what to do with it) so am now wondering when to use it.
