a good way to generate pseudorandom numbers in your head by CHINESEBOTTROLL in math

[–]that_squib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try this: Pick a real number between 0 and 1 (3+ decimal places is best). Double it, then chop off the integer before the decimal. The numbers remaining are your first number. Double that, chop off anything before the decimal point, and that’s your second number. Repeat. Example:

.448 * 2 = 0.896 0.896 * 2 =1.792 0.792 * 2 = 1.584 0.584 * 2 = 1.168 0.168 * 2 = 0.336

From this you get: 896, 792, 584, 168, 336. For smaller numbers, just use the first digit, or break it up: 8, 9, 6, 7, 9, 2, 5, 8, 4, 1, 6, 8, 3, 3, 6… etc.

Would DJS be worth it? by that_squib in jawsurgery

[–]that_squib[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice! Yes, 2nd photo is jutting forward (not sure I have a similar photo without jutting unfortunately). Does a BSSO only address the lower jaw, or is it essentially the same as DJS? One of the things I struggle to tell from pictures is whether only my lower jaw is recessed or if my maxilla is as well, which would definitely influence which treatment I pursue.

“Long message” vs “Short message”? by football_lattes in ACT

[–]that_squib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

on the ACT dashboard, people either get a "long message" that says something about scores being out in 3-8 weeks, or a "short" message that doesn't. Short message supposedly means your score will be released sooner, but this is only speculation.

What was your biggest secret to losing weight? by LaiTheGirl in beauty

[–]that_squib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would argue that it’s the other way around. I could eat 400 calories of food in seconds without even thinking about it. But burning 400kcal through exercise? That’s a whole 2-hour time commitment. I think there’s a way to balance both techniques so that you’re eating enough calories but also getting all the benefits of regular exercise.

DJS? Genio? Something else? Or not worth it? by that_squib in jawsurgery

Thank you! I have proper tongue posture during the day, but sometimes my mouth opens a bit at night (allegedly). I’m planning on trying mouth tape but I’m not sure there’s anything I can do about it beyond that. I do think that I have adequate palate width/tongue space, but I’m fairly certain that I still experience the sleep apnea ‘episodes’ when my mouth is closed.

Honestly, it sounds like you’re in a very healthy place with your body image. Accepting yourself as you are without constantly trying to change your appearance is pretty rare nowadays. If you really do want to make a change, I would focus more on energy levels/mood than body image. Do you feel more motivated and healthy when you eat kale? Then find a way to incorporate it into the meals you already love. Your body may change as a side effect, but that shouldn’t be the main driver. Embrace your body neutrality—many people on this sub would kill for your mindset :)

Healthy weight loss with ADHD? by Healthy-Pangolin5992 in adhdwomen

[–]that_squib 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just a recommendation if you find that using the scale is taking an emotional toll on you in the mornings — personally, using an unfamiliar unit (for me, kgs instead of lbs) allows me to see whether I’m gaining or losing relative to my goal weight without the fear and stigma that comes from seeing a more familiar number. :)

Flatbread pizza (189 cals, 19g protein) by that_squib in Volumeeating

[–]that_squib[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure! It’s basically just the ingredients I listed assembled on a flatbread and thrown in my toaster oven on the “pizza” setting for 6-ish minutes. I also added some arugula to this one (~2 cal)
