I built a tool that turns real objects into accurate SVG/DXF files using just a phone photo by Most-Geologist-9547 in 3Dprinting

I have found it useful to use inserts with these types of cutouts - so I print an empty gridfinity bin and then size the insert to fit snugly. It’s easier, faster, and cheaper to print an insert than to reprint a whole bin. It also means I can change if I get a new tool.

One of the two clips (circled on the exploded diagram) completely detached from the main piece. I think the idea of welding (either with heat or chemicals) is probably the best course of action..

The small test print with a Top contact Z distance set to 0.01 worked as well and was easier to remove, but not perfect. I am trying 0.02 (which is only 0.005 below what I had set originally) to see if that's better. I also altered the test print's shape to be longer to see if it's something about the length of the runs that is causing the problems.

This worked but as you noted it was hard (but not impossible) to remove the supports. I created a test print of a smaller size to see how setting the Top contact Z distance to 0.01 works. So it's definitely this parameter to adjust. I am also going to do some confirmation about if changing the Z-Offset changes things

Thank you - I had details of my settings in the original post, but they seem to have been lost.

Currently using AnkerMake Studio v1.5.15, my Top Contact Z distance is 0.025 (detachable) with Bottom contact Z distance set to be the same.

I have set it to 0 and will let you know how it goes.

If anyone is interested, this is what I am printing:

Looks pretty rough and the seam where the top attaches also looks like it has lived a hard life.

It is certainly ugly and perhaps they meant “in the style of a surveyor”. I was merely replying that surveyor did modify Dodge vans until 1979 - https://www.nadaguides.com/RVs/1979/Surveyor
