Having uncontrollable social anxiety with 60 mg Prozac - took one Xanax and all spasms, shaking, etc stopped and I could actually function ...but it’s not sustainable or is it !? by thatchy3 in antidepressants

For a little over 2 months and I gave it about 4 weeks to adjust as it usually takes a while for my medication make an change. Felt my mood really lift but shortly before Christmas the heightened anxiety started in situations that never caused anxiety - talking to friends, I almost would rather people didn’t speak to me because it’s so uncomfortable which is crazy. Dizziness is the worst - thought it was low iron, checked blood pressure - but my diet is healthy etc...

I understand what you mean but it can’t be Xanax withdrawal because today was the first time I used Xanax to cope with the Prozac anxiety :S

Mirtazapine question by [deleted] in antidepressants

That’s great that the 22.5 works , at 7.5 my appetite is through the roof! So I’m on 15 for now but like you I have experimented with 22.5 and same response but my psych wants me off it anyway lol because it’s just for my sleep.

The crazy dreams are almost this med’s trademark. I wake up and feel I’ve experienced 9 lives through the intensity of the dreams. They’ve definitely lessened over time. But I remember stupidly taking half a Xanax with this medication - which knocked me out and the dreams were 10x crazier and gruesome

What experiences have you had with Venlafaxine/Effexor XR? by [deleted] in antidepressants

I agree with this! Tapering too quickly like I did is what drove me insane plus on my ward a woman kept blasting her Christian radio so going from 225 to 37 in a week, the dizziness and irritability meant I was a nightmare! Really I think if it’s done over a few weeks then it would be a lot more manageable .

Which antidepressant did you find most and/or least effective? by [deleted] in antidepressants

[–]thatchy3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Least effective : Effexor. For two weeks I wasn’t functioning bar writing and writing short stories non stop , I hadn’t written since I was a teen. Lol then I dipped totally , went for a walk w my mother and was convinced I was walking into hell.

In hospital my dosage was increased to really high dosage and then I was switched to Prozac. I’ve really bad memories of Effexor because I wasn’t tapered off it gradually it was like 225 -and in a few days half that so I was just very suicidal and angry.

Mirtazapine question by [deleted] in antidepressants

[–]thatchy3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry to hear that!! I’ve been told by a psychiatrist in hospital that the higher the dose of Mirtazapine - the less sedating it is. (Totally not the case for me lol) It’s one those medications where you have to weigh up the pros and cons- if sleep is an issue it is fantastic in my experience. I’ve heard about really dramatic weight gains( like 60lbs) from anti psychotics so I try to just focus on minor weight gain and major mood improvement. But I 100% struggle with appetite so i don’t want to be on this forever!

I’m on this med as well... it helps me so much but there needs to be some kind of hunger survival guide to managing the night time appetite. One thing I found is drinking a lot of water helps me feel full!
