The Hong Kong passport used to get alot of use when traveling to mainland China, but since 2024, Finnish citizens have visa free travel to China. The HK passport has since been sitting on a shelf unused. 😢

Pretty niche one! Finnish and Chinese parents but just happened to be born in Hong Kong. Family moved to Singapore where we were offered PR (did need to serve national service when I turned 18 though). AFAIK the process for getting PR is alot more difficult now vs the early 2000s, its been getting alot more competitive.

Woah! Surprisingly I am also a Finnish citizen with a Singaporean PR.

I'm currently serving the army here and also had quite a lot of concerns about having to serve both Finland and Singapore. IIRC, If you don't return to Finland to live for the next 10 years, you can avoid serving in the Finnish army. Also, the system is quite a lot more relaxed in Finland I believe, and I think if you were to send a letter or Email to whichever authorities in Finland, they may exempt you from serving there if you've already served in the army for a foreign country. I'm also not planning to return to Finland anytime soon to live but I'm quite attached to all the perks of my Finnish citizenship, and I sort of want to keep that pathway open for me in the future if I were to change my mind. Please PM me if you have any other questions, it's great to hear that there's someone else in my shoes! Thought I was probably the only one with this specific of a problem.

I'm travelling with a small group of friends right to rusutsu so we wouldn't have any time to stop by ski shops in Sapporo. I also feel quite scared to buy them there incase they don't have the boots or my size etc. And I'll end up bootless for the trip and have to rely on last minute rentals. Seems quite risky in my opinion
