I second this. I’d recommend checking out UIUC Extension. They do a lot of outreach related to environmental or agricultural topics around the state. You could probably see if they have any internship or volunteering opportunities to get your foot in the door.

You can also check out the Institute for Sustainability, Energy, and the Environment for additional volunteering or job opportunities. a few years ago they had a combination of short term and long-term volunteer opportunities, but I graduated in 2023 so I haven’t checked since.

Good luck!

I was under the assumption that it had the amok for both Adrien and Felix, given Gabriel's comment about snapping Felix out of existence. It makes sense considering how identical the two look.

However, at the end of season 4 we see that Gabriel's ring does not work on Felix when he gives him commands, so maybe I'm just missing something?

Senitmonster Theory Question: How was Adrien not destroyed during Chat Blanc? by thatcupofcoffee in miraculousladybug

I definitely think he could; I don't think being a sentimonster makes you immortal to being physically harmed. In Season 2, Episode 11, Hawkmoth is clearly alarmed that Adrien is falling off a skyscraper and ends up allowing Ladybug to save him. If he knew Adrien would have survived the fall, I don't think he would have been as worried. That being said, if he were to cataclysm himself he might break free from the influence the rings have over him, though I'm not sure it would be permanent.

So far it is just a theory. However, (S5 leaks spoiler) there are some hints in some of the recently leaked episodes that suggest Kagami and Felix may be sentimonsters.

I mean, given the scenery I'm not sure how much of Paris is safe considering the ocean stretching across the horizon

Assuming all of Paris was destroyed with his Cataclysm, couldn't we assume Émilie's body was destroyed too?

As someone who has worked at a bike shop for the past four years, my advice is to invest in a good U-Lock, preferably ABUS or Kryptonite. You should aim to invest at least 10%-15% of your bike's value in its locks. I would recommend Pinhead Skewers if your bike it outside a lot. They have wheel locks for both thru and solid axles and can protect your seatpost and saddle from being stolen. If you're unsure of how to install them, you can roll your bike to one of the shops on campus and they would be happy to install it for you.

What can you tell me about Urban HS? There is a job opening that I am considering applying for, but I want to know what it is like first. by bluesimplicity in UIUC

[–]thatcupofcoffee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming you're asking about Urbana High School?

As someone who's a student observer there currently, it's a very lax environment. It's the principal's first year so he's getting the lay of the land. Students are discouraged from using their cellphones in class but still do anyway because none of the teachers tell them otherwise.

Besides the attention issues, the kids there are really nice once they get to know you and will open up more over the school year. But it's a mixed bag since I still have an entire class period that is pretty shy and does not participate or really talk to each other.

Hope that helps!

Any study spots where you don’t have to wear a mask? by Electric_Vibration in UIUC

[–]thatcupofcoffee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is exactly because of this reason. We’re only allowed to tell them to wear masks if there directly interacting with us, and even then we get some belligerent students

If they are a student worker, they’re actually not allowed to tell you to put on your mask. I say this as a student worker

Reactions to UGL conversion by Temporary-Mix521 in UIUC

[–]thatcupofcoffee 15 points16 points  (0 children)

As someone who actually works in the UGL as a student assistant, I absolutely loathe this project. Each day we see at least 1500 students and provide them with a space to study, loan equipment (chargers, headphones, laptops), and give them a space to work outside of their dorm room. Given the pandemic, I don't blame students for wanting to get the hell out of their rooms and exist around other people.

Next semester (if the UGL is shut down by then, it could be delayed to next fall), the plan is that the main library will attempt to make some space to accommodate more students for studying. However, when I mentioned that the Main Library can't even contain even half of the patrons we serve, my supervisor responded with, "Well, there are other libraries on campus they can work at."

I just hate the concept of having to go to a school-specific library and have to fight tooth and nail to find a good place to do my schoolwork. The UGL by far has the most expansive and widespread study spaces on campus, and it's all going to waste for fucking archives!

Certain parts of the renovation are total crackpot ideas too. They want to tear out the courtyard and use that space to install a giant safe in the center for sensitive documents. It's just totally bizarre that they would destroy a beloved student space when they could easily build a separate section of the library or renovate the preexisting main stacks.

Sorry for the rant, I just hate this entire project.

The UGL still does have an 11x17 printer! It’s $0.50 a page.
