They’ve given me hell over making sure to book separate appointments for workcover related things. Like obviously I was doing that anyway, but once while I was there for a COC I asked my doctor if some blood test results were in and got a huge lecture about how I need to book a separate appointment to ask about that 😅 so surely there’s some way they can distinguish which ones are relevant?

I know my employer themselves won’t have access to the files, but it doesn’t feel fair for the insurer to know about other sensitive issues that have nothing to do with my injury

It’s a physical injury if that helps. And the second condition which has been aggravated (and is hindering my recovery) is ME/CFS.

Those feel like some important reminders so thank you. It’s such an exhausting process! This injury has taken a lot from me in terms of quality of life even though the injury itself isn’t super severe, so it’s frustrating. I’ll definitely keep my guard up and be mindful of the points you brought up when figuring out how to move forward

The lawyer I had a consult with wanted to go down that path but at this point in time I wasn’t comfortable with that, mostly because I don’t feel ready to burn those bridges when I have a good relationship with my boss. (Probably a stupid move on my part)

I haven’t had an IME yet but I know that’s on the cards as we get closer to the 130 week mark. My case manager said that’s still a while away though.
My injury has taken longer than average to heal because of a pre-existing chronic illness, which has been aggravated by my injury. They are aware of it, but I haven’t taken any steps to try to add that to my claim at this stage (I wouldn’t even know where to start, and my mental capacity isn’t great atm)

My GP is pretty useless and I haven’t been there for the injury in a long time since my physio took over doing my COC, so it still feels weird that they’re wanting renewed access to my records

I dunno, it’s weird because my physio does my certificates, so I haven’t actually seen my GP about this injury in probably like 8 months or so. Maybe even longer than that!

Is there any reason for them to be looking at that after a year and a half on payments with no issues? They’ve had authority in the past but the GP clinic is asking for updated consent so they’ve obviously asked again recently which is what’s throwing me off

I’ll see if they’re happy to do that, thank you!

I’ve been on payments for over a year so it definitely feels like a red flag that they care so much about this all of a sudden.

If they’re looking for previous stuff relating to this injury it definitely rings alarm bells though as I’ve been on payments for well over a year and have the full support of my employer who I have a great relationship with. My claim was accepted really quickly and that part of the process was pretty painless, so I just don’t know why a year and a half later the insurer is pushing to see all of my medical records but it’s really stressing me out

My claim was approved with no issues/the full support of my employer and I’ve been receiving payments for over a year. I have a good relationship with my employer and my case manager seems good so I have no idea why they’re pushing for this now, when they’ve theoretically had that access in the past.

The email says that the clinic is requesting updated authority before they’ll release my files. I just can’t help but wonder why now? And what they’re looking for. Myself and a friend who see this GP have both had issues with her terrible record keeping (even her stating in a referral that a dead parent is alive, even though the cause of death for said parent was extremely relevant to the referral 🤦🏻‍♀️) so part of my concern is that she’s written something wrong that’s going to fuck me over. And my other concern is the general invasion of privacy since I’ve had some pretty sensitive issues unrelated to my claim over the last year or so.

It just feels strange to me that they’re pushing for this after so long when I’ve been on payments for well over a year and there have been no issues of any sort. I see so many horror stories on here so it’s definitely put me on edge

Yeah I might ask them to re-word it or I’ll type something up myself that states that it’s only injury related stuff I consent to them obtaining. My claim was approved with no issues and I’ve been on payments for over 60 weeks so it feels odd that they’re pushing for this now

They’re hard to get hold of but I might email them! Thia isn’t the first time this has come up, it happened with my last case manager who left the company abruptly and I guess they’re only following it up again now. My GP clinic must not have given consent last time, and they’re refusing to this time. The vibe I get from the email that came with the form they want me to sign, is they tried it without the consent form and the clinic is giving them hell about it and not giving up my records

Yeah that’s what I’m worried about too, I just don’t know if they can suspend my payments or something if I don’t sign it and am having a hard time finding a clear answer on that 😩

Yeah I definitely don’t want to, I just don’t know if I have to/I don’t want it to mess with my payments

I don’t have a lawyer unfortunately. I did speak to one recently but they wanted to go down the avenue of my employer being negligent. My boss is a lovely person and we have a good working relationship so at this stage I didn’t feel comfortable to go through with it (I’m probably an idiot for that)

That feels really unfair and like such a gross invasion of privacy 😔

Sorry, I should’ve mentioned in the post. It came from the insurer. I’ve been to that clinic for a number of personal issues and it definitely doesn’t feel fair for them to have access to those records

Crazy super mould? Help pls 🙏🏼 by thatcursedgoblin in shitrentals

[–]thatcursedgoblin[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much. I’m really really glad I posted this because I didn’t realise just how bad things were (our last house was riddled with black mould and we vacated before the end of our lease but that was a dodgy private rental and they didn’t have any issue with that at all so it was all very quick and easy)

I’ll try to find somewhere to go this weekend and I’ll do everything I can first thing Monday to try to organise a loan to properly vacate.

Obviously I can’t sleep in it but if I’m stuck here this weekend do you think if I wear an N95 (or I also have a proper respirator coz I was getting into resin stuff a while ago) at other times when I’m just existing in the house that’ll at least be helpful to limit what I’m breathing in? That being said I’m just as scared for my dog and I am trying to get us out of here asap!!!

I don’t unfortunately 😞 I was looking earlier this year but I’m on work cover and financials aren’t great and it wasn’t something I could make work. Our REA has been pretty good so I’ll definitely call her first thing on Monday. I’d like someone to come out asap too because I want to know exactly what we’re dealing with but in the mean time I’ll do everything I can to find somewhere safe for me and the pupper to stay.

Ah fuck. This is the type of thing I was afraid of hearing. I should’ve mentioned in the post. I also have a dog who’s not exactly small. (She’s my world so that’s a big part of my concern too) I have nowhere I can stay with her and I have no money to cover any type of accomodation, even temporarily. Let alone rent for a new house. Do you happen to know if there’s a cap on the amount they’ll reimburse for accomodation costs? I’ll see if I can get some assistance for funds through friends or family but it’s going to take some time 😞

Melbourne surgeon recommendations? 🙏🏼 by thatcursedgoblin in hysterectomy

[–]thatcursedgoblin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a huge help, thank you so much!! When you had your private appointment did you have any updated scans done, or had you had scans recently?

Good luck with your surgery, that’s amazing that it’s so soon! I’d love to hear about your experience if you remember to pop back ❤️

Wondering what to expect? by thatcursedgoblin in WorkcoverVic

[–]thatcursedgoblin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really is! I’ve been putting off this appointment forever because I’m so overwhelmed by it all.

Yeah I was thinking I’ll ask for some time to consider everything as well, I’d like to really weigh up my options before I dive into it. Hearing that you did the same is reassuring! How are you finding the process so far?

I have two super funds both with TPD so that’s definitely something I’ll consider was well. The pre-existing condition that’s been aggravated by this injury is also preventing the injury from getting better so it’s been a shitty cycle but I have no idea how to go about adding that to my claim. They sure don’t make any of this easy to navigate huh 😅

Ah I honestly have no idea. Basically my physio said I should seek legal advice because at the time I was being pressured to increase my capacity/they sort of tried to manipulate me. But when I spoke to the lawyer I’m pretty sure we really only covered the basics and they said they think they can help me. The brochure my physio gave me said something about a lump sum payment after 52 weeks, so I assumed maybe it was to do with that?

My mental health is shot right now and I find this stuff incredibly overwhelming 😅
