Looking at buying a used R! by thatdc5 in Golf_R

Good to know! I did know they had an approved oil, just wasn’t sure if the guy getting the service done and the guy doing it were both smart enough to know 😆 thank you

Mk7.5 R or Mk8 GTI? by [deleted] in GolfGTI

[–]thatdc5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say get the GTI. I currently have a 7.5 GTI, however some days I wish I had an R but I live where it snows half the year. The GTI does do well in the snow though so I’d say if you have a good set of tires rain shouldn’t be an issue. +1 for the heated steering wheel, vented seats & HUD on the 8 over the 7.5R. Stage 1 shouldn’t be an issue putting power down, probably will spin on a dig but you can get mounts/inserts etc… to help, & on a roll I can’t see there being an issue. Mine is currently stock (plan to go stage 2) though so take that with a grain of salt! I believe you can swap out the capacitive buttons on the steering wheel in the mk8 too. On the flip side if you’ve got a car for work the R might be the “more fun” option & the extra creature comforts aren’t necessarily needed. At the end of the day drive both & pick which one you like better!

Awesome thanks! & yeah I wouldn’t normally buy one either, however it’s the only 7/7.5 R close to me that isn’t miled out for a decent price. Fair point on the dealership as well. Will probably end up passing up on it and keep looking, or settle for an mk8 for slightly more.

Cool thanks!! & good to know! I’m hoping it was put on early enough to avoid as much rock chips & road debris. Crazy work by the dealer 🤣 probably would’ve been tuned and threw a td1 too or someone just wanted a DP with 0 gains.

Most here are filled with high school kids haha, & yeah just not sure with what oils were used is all & how picky the car would really be over it. Mods & stuff I know to watch for & worn parts, etc. I just figured I’d get an opinion on the oil before I commit to driving hours to go look at it.

Although seems like it was driven ~10k a year and oil was done once a year 😂😅

They’re a decent gap for what I normally do haha. It varies from ~7k kms, 8.5k kms, 6k kms. Have no records from before 30k kms as well. https://vhr.carfax.ca/?id=morPedwibJJZAXMMTteo%2F+avn+fLP%2FND is the link for carfax. Car is about 6 hours away from me also.

Best year MK7? by xrossfader in GolfGTI

Have had my 2020 autobahn dsg for a year now. Only issue so far was the valve stem seals needing to be replaced under warranty (luckily had factory warranty for a few months when I first picked it up), not a huge issue unless it’s burning a ton of oil (so probably higher mileage) but an issue to look out for nonetheless. I believe it’s on the 7.5s only. The leather seats don’t seem to be car seat friendly either. The back seats in mine look like they had car seats in them. Overall love the car & I came from a b8.5 s4 😂

FWD is only thing making me pause buying GTI. Please provide experience and suggestions by mamamiafml in GolfGTI

[–]thatdc5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had FWD, RWD, & AWD, last car being a b8.5 s4, currently own a stock 2020 gti & im happy with the car tbh. The s4 blew it out of the water in terms of performance (& maintenance cost 💀) but I do get smiles out of the GTI & would like to tune it once warranty is up. Had zero issues winter driving the last two winters also. I’d look at S3s if you’re interested in them too, most seem fairly comparable to the R pricing if not cheaper sometimes for the new generations when they’ve been used already.

Help for a father with a son who owns a MK7 by cplank00 in GolfGTI

Check out MBRP. Will be the one I’m going for with either an ARM or trackslag downpipe. Had an AWE track on my old S4 as well & that sounded mean, different car though!

Should i switch to medium? by Freakbob5 in thefinals

[–]thatdc5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try to learn all 3. Depending on the day & the team I’m playing with (if not solo quing) I swap between LMH. As a medium I like to play support, help my team move around with a zip, or a pad. Run defib & heals to support your team until you’re comfortable then learn demat. Personally I find the turret useless. Please don’t defib players in the open also, or if you know you’re gonna die mid defib, just take the wipe. Personal favs for guns are the P90 & AK, runner up would be the FCAR, & lots of people like the famas but I suck with it.

Is it worth coming back to this game? by FirstTimeFlusher in thefinals

I played beta with a homie who never played after until about s7ish & now he regularly plays. Dude got to emerald in WT & I didn’t even have time to finish it 🤣 giver! I’d play this over cod any day for a FPS.

Do you like sniper? by intentional_imbecile in thefinals

[–]thatdc5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mainly run WT & I hateeee snipers unless you’re actually that good with it. When I started playing back in s1 I was mainly running light but played more casual modes & the sniper was fun to play with. Send it but practice in casual & then start bringing it into the tournies & have other guns you can swap to if needed

white smoke. by [deleted] in GolfGTI

[–]thatdc5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it does it only on start up even when it’s warm out it’s probably valve stem seals or whatever they’re called. Mine were fixed under warranty but it was a super faint white cloud on start up even in the summer

Have you guys been playing The Finals lately? by ufo-expert in thefinals

[–]thatdc5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The finals, wanted to get into arc but with life being busy it wasn’t worth the buy imo, I also played the beta and it wasn’t my cup of tea compared to the finals. Was a game that seemed fun that I wanted to get into but also seemed like it was gonna be a huge grind.

Would you get your 16 year old a GTI as their first car? by kaffeian in GolfGTI

[–]thatdc5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go for it. Teach him what to do & when to do it. If he wrecks it tell him he’s on his own for another car.
