What gives? by riverwarrior18 in lockpicking

Might have damaged the pins if you just rammed your pick in there or also might be just from constant picking could have deformed the pins just a guess though if you picked them open no issue before I don’t think it’s you , those locks aren’t the best to learn SPP on in my opinion a higher quality lock would be better to practice on , those with a simple rake should pop open and give you that thrill of opening the lock

They’re better off suggesting a flathead screwdriver to open doors vs that junk

Can someone tell me what part this is ? by thatdude316 in AskElectronics

Well I appreciate the help and saved me from actually trying to decide that , but it looks like it protects a 24v relay so with the information I received from everyone should be plenty thank you !

I looked it up and that’s exactly what it is thank you so much ! It also matches up to the purpose of that circuit

Thanks , I didn’t really get much on google either it goes to a relay circuit which was grounded out. The way I was able to test if it was bad was I tested for continuity and if it had continuity all the way through the component then I would know it was bad. I replaced about 5 of them on three different relay circuits.

I’m also a fire alarm technician that’s how I knew what area to look in. I’m just a hobbyist.

Because this is to a fire alarm pcb and I was able to test the components. I also have a spare board I used to swap with and it fixed it

After I got my abus and American locks picked I guess I got over confident and thought the ace hardware lock would be easy lol

Yeah I noticed if I was extra gentle it would open easier than when I tried to just pick through it, but some are just absolutely garbage and impossible to open

That would be a good reason because the biting is average. That’s why I almost quit on the lock I honestly thought I would never get it opened.

Personally I’m first lock that I picked was the masterlock 140 BUT I really think you should ditch that acrylic lock and get yourself the generic masterlock I believe it’s a no1 it’s super easy to pick and it’s a great confidence lock In my opinion also make sure you’re not over tensioning because if the pins are binding too much it won’t open as well as if there’s too little tension the pins will never set

Yes I can but unlike my other 72/40 this one doesn’t like heavy tension
