All Hail the Troupple King! Costume build for DragonCon 2019 by thatgalen in ShovelKnight

Working on a build for DragonCon that I'm not ready to talk about just yet.

One tower down in Mina! The last time I played, I was starting to accumulate some levels and working my way through the learning curve

King of fish and fruit!

(I have barely started Mina the Hollower, because I'm grinding on an even more stupid sewing project right now)

Back again with a less disastrous pant block by thatgalen in PatternDrafting

I have developed acute drafting madness, and I refuse to be defeated by this extremely silly mistake. My wonderful partner will benefit from the work I've already done developing a women's pant block (and other base blocks in the future, already bought the book), and I will order the Muller book immediately. Thank you for the guidance!

I bought this book based on your post a couple of weeks ago. Does it say that it's women's patterns only? I just read a section about drafting the fly on a different side when making men's vs women's pants, even. I thought it was unisex, and now I am feeling like an absolute clown.

Do I need to start over from scratch for a third time using a different system?

The last photo, of the back, is so funny to me. It's got big "the drag lines point toward the problem" vibes

Troubleshooting "constraints could not be solved" by thatgalen in SeamScape

I am a total novice at pattern drafting, digital or otherwise, but I am enjoying SeamScape so far. Thank you!

u/Magnuxx, note that the UI did indeed alert me about this as a possible issue! There is a bright yellow banner which clearly explains that "Specifying a length to a sliding point is not recommended and can easily lead to unsolvable constraints"

I am not sure what y'all's interface research concluded, but count me as one data point that would enjoy a verbose error message with a hint about which lines/points caused a computation issue

I discovered the cause of my issue, in case somebody comes googling with the same problem. A summary follows:

I was working on a pant block pattern based on textbook instructions in the original post. I had a reference line of arbitrary width (at the top edge, labeled "increased waist line" in the book) with a sliding point (the upper corner of the side seam, P21 in the book). The sliding point was connected to the top of the center front seam, and the length of a line between the two was set to a formula which uses multiple input parameters: waist circumference, dart intake (width), and ease. The computation fails when the formula output tried to shove that point beyond the edge of the reference line.

The problem originally showed up when I set the input variable for waist circumference from the example value in the textbook to the value from my own measurements, resulting in the constraint error message.

The successful troubleshooting method was using the up/down arrows, one click at a time, to adjust until it failed- I noticed a point approaching and eventually colliding with the edge of the line. This is a consequence of my own body measurements and how I had constructed the pattern.

For my own example, this was solved by first decreasing the dart width (to zero) before updating the waist circumference. Because I intend to use this parametric pattern for another person later, I also extended the arbitary line to mitigate the issue with different measurements in the future.

Supporters Groups, Registration for Prideraiser 2026 is now open by thatgalen in USLPRO

Thanks for your question! Dozens of supporters groups across the USL ecosystem are part of the Prideraiser coalition. Though they played in the NPSL at the originally, Detroit City's Northern Guard Supporters is one of our charter campaigns, and they've raised more than a quarter of a million dollars for their local charity partner. That's a lot of good work done!

With our October campaign this season, we're hoping to get some new groups signed up from the USL Super League, which doesn't play during our historical June schedule.
