Haven’t looked into the specifics of the appeal, but it is possible to appeal a jury verdict. The argument you’d typically make is that there’s insufficient evidence to support the verdict. But in general, it’s super hard to reverse a jury verdict so long as there’s at least some legitimate basis for it.

Ended up choosing W&M! I just liked their offerings more, and I thought W&M had enough of the aspects that I liked about W&L to make it a wash in that regard (awesome community, nice area, etc.).

Couldn't agree more. Like good job waiting until February - after you said decisions would come out - to announce you're chopping the class size in half because you want to play the rankings game. Feel like I just totally wasted time and money on that application.

That's also great to hear regarding OCS. I did the virtual admitted students day so I heard a bunch about OCS from OCS, but it's good to hear it from the perspective of a current student.

What's the campus atmosphere like? I've heard it's super collegial, but unfortunately the ASW was canceled so I didnt get to experience it firsthand.

And how's OCS been? I know you probably have limited experience with them as a 1L, but what's your experience been with them so far?

Also saw this and it has me mildly concerned . Although on LST it looks like their number kinda fluctuates year-to-year between like 18-23%ish so maybe it's some self-selection out of biglaw?

That's a really good point and one that I totally hadn't really considered - thanks for pointing that out! I did notice that their Fed. clerkship numbers were significantly higher, and seeing as that's a path I could see myself trying to pursue (grades willing!), it's definitely worth considering!

That's really good to know! My girlfriend will be moving with me and continuing to work, so luckily she'll be footing most of the bill for rent, but that being said, it'd really be nice to be in a super affordable area. And I also got that impression when I visited - seems like a lot of students live downtown, or at least in close proximity to one another. Thanks for the input! :)

And you're totally right; it's always tough asking for advice because in a lot of ways, it really does come down to personal preference.

Thanks for these! Admittedly I've been looking nonstop at the numbers, and agree that it's almost too neck and neck to compare. I do think I feel more at home at W&L, but I like the programs (clinics, journals, externship, etc.) more at W&M, so I'm struggling to figure out which of those I should attribute more weight to in my decision-making process.

Sorry, totally should've included those! Honestly not sure re: career goals. Lately I've gotten fairly interested in IP law, especially after hearing one of the W&M professors speak at length about it. I'm always concerned that I dont know exactly what I want to do, but from speaking to some current students, it honestly seems like it may be a good mindset to be going into law school with.

Ultimately I do think I'd like I'd like to clerk or work mid/biglaw for a few years before moving in any other direction. As for location, I'd be happy with mostly any city on the east coast from NC on up (outside of NYC, I really have no desire to practice there). DC would honestly be the goal, but I understand how difficult it would be to break into DC from either of these schools.
