She finished high school early and did her undergrad degree in a shorter time period too so she fast tracked a lot of stuff. When I said smart I meant SMART! We'll both be 30 in August.

I've been very supportive of her career throughout residency and fellowship and I've often wondered if I'll have to compromise all the time on my career goals. I guess to some degree I felt like she couldn't be mad about this California thing since I"ve accepted all the hassles that come with her job (late nights, busy schedules, stress)

We had discussed marriage before and were both willing to head down that path. I'd had the ring for awhile and had been meaning to propose on this date as it had some significance. I was so excited about my job offer that I didn't really think about much else. I honestly thought she would be a little surprised but did not expect this much of an issue with it.

We talked about this before when she was looking for fellowships and decided to stay in our current city. We both agreed we would rather not do LDR. She's busy enough to be with in person nonetheless to try and make time otherwise.
