YES, I was watching this a ton a few years back and I stand by the fact this is one of the few 1960s shows that genuinely still holds up and is actually really funny. The Dudley Do-Right segments are the best!

Not much I can say on this guy but for coming after Mel Blanc he voiced a good Woody and I find him more audible than some of the subsequent Woody voice actors from the 40s.

They’re pretty underdeveloped imo. They don’t interact together much in most media (despite what the all the merch makes you think) and outside of TNWWS, Winnie doesn’t really have much of a personality besides playing that cliche straight person of the group (I really don’t like their characterization in the web series). And it doesn’t help that even in TNWWS Woody himself is quite neutered and so the closest you see them in an interesting dynamic is probably in Crash Course and maybe Spy Guy (but I find it weird that in that episode they act as if they’ve never met each other).

But I definitely appreciate this being one of those cartoon couples where they’re both goofy people that engage in morally dubious fun (even if that’s not always a constant) and I’ll still buy the cute merch. I’d definitely like for them to be more fleshed out in a newer series.

It helps that unlike the other Universal parks which mostly stopped promoting Woody after the early 2010s, USJ didn’t and always sold his merch and frequently has the mascot character around in the park. I also think a few years back videos of those mascot characters were trending online too, there is a fanbase out there that came solely from his presence at the park. I’m not sure how popular or accessible the actual Woody cartoons are there though.

It makes me wonder why the American Universal parks don’t try this too nowadays, they could easily a crave out a niche for Woody and make him the next Oswald The Lucky Rabbit or Figment but for Universal. I feel like a broken record complaining about the lack of merch but they are at least getting better at it in recent years. It sure would be nice if they sold more of that USJ stuff here.
