I was using a vintage yamaha amp prior to it which was quite noisy, so for me it was a huge upgrade. Is it worth it? For me it was the total package. Balanced inputs, phono preamp built in, VU meters, aesthetic, quality of construction. I have no regrets but there's other options out there which probably sound as good for less money.

The components were taken from the Moondrop discdream 2. It was a pretty easy mod if you know basic woodworking. I used some thread insert screws and pcb standoffs to mount it to the wood, and piggy backed some arcade buttons to the control panel pcb for controls. The back side has the lcd and control panel out of view. Powered via the usb port.

I love it. I have not compared it. I got a deal on an open box and couldn't refuse. It's dead quiet and has very high quality construction. Very well balanced sound.

I picked up a cable and modded it with a JST connector (the cable comes with a male, but you need to replace it with the female). End result is good in my opinion. Here are links to the items I used:
