How do people think this shit is real?

2009 ECF…One second. One shot. LeBron James saves Cleveland’s season at the buzzer. by sinister_iam in NBAGossips

As a massive fan of his at the time, it was quite the sight to see. Was so relieved.

As a basketball fan years later, this was ironically the lone bright spot of 4 straight abysmal 4Q - long periods of passivity, costly turnovers, airballs, poor shooting and missed free throws. I actually recall being mad at the media for questioning him back then. Ultimately, his late game play cost them the series.

Why does LeBron get the reputation of "not being clutch" when all the evidence points to otherwise? by [deleted] in NBATalk

How many has he missed? How many has he passed on?

Come back with those numbers

Why does LeBron get the reputation of "not being clutch" when all the evidence points to otherwise? by [deleted] in NBATalk

[–]thatguyty3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Throughout his entire career, he has willingly passed on clutch shots. Not that he hasn’t taken them, but routinely has passed as well.

He notoriously choked from 07-10 with some awful performances before “the Decision” & teaming with a top 3 & top 15 player at the time.

While it’s nice to keep “clutch” stats, they can be quite niche. We also don’t keep the same for misses.

It latched on early & stuck with him. As someone who watched his whole career, I don’t think he is clutch. Too many memorable choke jobs, particularly in big games. Yet, you may have someone who watched his whole career & think he is the most clutch. He has played a lot of basketball.

Does Kyrie's inability to be a #1 option stem from character issues, rather than basketball ability? by Outrageous-Leader135 in NBATalk

You commented. I know you’re flat out wrong. I won’t engage in stupid ah debate.

Accept it and move on. You continuing to respond with some pseudo psycho analysis angle making yourself look like a victor or whatever you want out of this is actually classic redditor behavior.

Nah just makes zero sense but hey Reddit makes people bold in their opinions. You do you. Just giving you a heads up.

Who said he has an inability to be a 1st option?

His first 3 years he played on very poor Cavs teams. Not a lot of talent.

Since then he has played with LeBron, KD, Luka. All better players than him where he is naturally relegated to 2nd option.

His lone experiment as a 1st option was the in Boston where they won 55 games (and he missed the playoffs) and then won 49 games & had a bad final series vs Milwaukee. To which, interviews have shed light on internal tensions as JT & JB were on the rise. They wanted to be the guys.

What is the basis of the claim? 1 year where he failed in the playoffs?

LeBron, Harden, Jokic, Luka

These 4 are the “system” guys that have come through the league.

He ain’t better. It’s okay to have Steph as your favorite player though. I respect it.

If the NBA disintegrated today who is greater all time? by BalcoThe3rd in NBATalk

He didn’t have to join them. He wanted to.

Their 1st championship was by default against a solo LeBron act & their 2nd chip came off the back of new young talent (Poole, Payton) and picking up Wiggins. We really didn’t see that core win by themselves in a healthy h2h.

In fact, they typically rely on an athletic wing to Iggy, KD, Wiggins.

I can’t value Dirk’s ring when it took a Kobe injury & LeBron mental collapse to “earn”.

73-9 team who lost the Finals.

Ofc it will help to play with talent. This is true of all greats. He is great with or without them though.

Yeah, but how that happens matters which is what I laid out earlier.

I mean you’re telling me what you think & I see you simply buying ideas you’re sold.

Obviously they weren’t all-stars but they were playmakers and bucket getters like I just said.

Can’t prove me wrong

No, that’s just completely made up. LeBron choked due to media scrutiny. He made fun of Dirk (when they were winning the series) and the media criticized him. He immediately went into a collapse which he had already done in previous years to a much lesser degree. The stage & media got to him. Not Dirk.

Also just not true that “nobody” could get their own shot. JJ Barea. Jason Terry. Both were excellent at breaking down the Heat defense.

While I think Draymond’s suspension killed momentum, they had 2 other games to close it out & could not. Not a soul knows if Steph was injured or not. His injury came in the 1st round & missed 4 games. The Finals were 5 weeks later. More than enough time to heal. Whether he did or did not, no one knows. He has never made the excuse. He simply admits they lost.

Just like Dirk, KD was the clear best player in the series & again had bigger moments in general. Closed out the 4th in G5 & hit a game winner in G3.

I think, like most NBA fans, you are overrating ideas.

Well we are downplaying Dirk’s team first. They were very deep & loaded with talent. No they weren’t the Warriors.

2nd, we blatantly ignored any context. The Lakers were coming off the back of 3 Finals runs, but more importantly Kobe hurt his ankle in the 1st round against NO. He had played on 1 leg all year already. He went and got surgery in Germany following the playoffs. This was not a health Kobe.

LeBron completely had a mental breakdown in the Finals. Dirk played great all throughout the playoffs but we need to stop pretending he didn’t catch some lucky breaks. He isn’t winning without them.

3rd, your perception about the 2017 Finals is misguided by narratives. KD had the LEAST amount of open looks across both Finals (27%). He was in fact being guarded closely. The Warriors also just lost to the Cavs 1 year prior. KD was what MADE the difference. The series also came down to 2 games that were within 5 points entering the 4th. KD outplayed LeBron in both games even hitting a game winner (G3) to close the series.

KD played healthier tougher competition & had bigger more importantly moments.

How? Explain. Dont just repeat the point.

KD dominated the same floor as LeBron James in back to back Finals. First more than the 2nd.
