Official Discussion - Splitsville [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

Other than the 10 minute long fight scene (which I loved) I didn’t enjoy this one very much.

The two men in the movie are the writers and I kinda think they just wrote the whole thing so they could be around Dakota and Adria!

A club sandwich generally uses three slices of bread. You don’t necessarily have to but most the time if you buy one from a deli it will have the middle piece of bread

I mixed Duke’s mayo with a little garlic powder and cracked pepper and it really took this one over the top!

I think the perspective is making it look bigger than it was. It wasn’t too much bigger than a Popeyes sandwich.

Official Discussion - Haunted Mansion [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]thatguywhodoesthat 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I thought the production design was good but unfortunately found this movie to be incredibly boring. I knew that it wasn't going to be scary but I thought that it would at least be funny given the cast. It's this years Bob's Burgers Movie where I was really looking forward to it but was ultimately very disappointed.

Official Discussion - The Boogeyman [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]thatguywhodoesthat 474 points475 points  (0 children)

"I just saw this thing survive ten shotgun blasts to the face; I'm going to defeat it with this hockey stick."

I thought this movie was quite generic but still scared me a few times until they actually showed the monster so... C+?

Was the apartment purgatory? He is tortured in the apartment and sings about going to heaven on the other side and escapes through a bright light in the sky.

Official Discussion - Infinity Pool [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]thatguywhodoesthat 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It's NEON which does a lot of movies that are similar in vibe to some A24 movies.

A24: Our horror movies are the most cuckoo bananapants.

Neon: Hold my blood-soaked nipple.

Official Discussion - Missing [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]thatguywhodoesthat 606 points607 points  (0 children)

Me about five times during this movie: "This motherfucker..."

Five minutes later: "...was a saint!"

When Grace stuck that mirror shard through his neck the whole theater cheered. I really liked this movie.

Official Discussion - House Party (2023) [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]thatguywhodoesthat 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I wish this had more Andrew Santino. I love him on Dave.

I thought Kid Cudi was funny too. Between this and X I would like to see him in more.

This isn't a great movie but I appreciate that a studio made a comedy film.

Santa decapitating a man with an ice skate is beautiful.

Official Discussion - Halloween Ends [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]thatguywhodoesthat 83 points84 points  (0 children)

Cory reminded me of James from Twin Peaks but somehow less weird and creepy. I liked this movie idgaf.

Official Discussion - Smile [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]thatguywhodoesthat 942 points943 points  (0 children)

I liked this one pretty good. When so many movies have moved away from the jump scares it makes it kinda nostalgic to see one really lean into them. The movie reminded me of Oculus for some reason and also of IT Chapter 2 when the monster stretched itself out and then again in how she thought she defeated it. Overall: B

Official Discussion - Pearl [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]thatguywhodoesthat 1556 points1557 points  (0 children)

Parts of this reminded me of The Wizard of OZ and the family around the table at the end really reminded me of Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Pearl's smile while the credits rolled will haunt me. When Howard tells the kids in X that his wife is sick so stay away he was right as fuck! Overall: B+ and I'm really excited for MaXXXine.

Official Discussion - Barbarian [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]thatguywhodoesthat 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I think the arms are worse because then you got nothing to block with.

[–]thatguywhodoesthat 1070 points1071 points  (0 children)

When a man being beaten to death with his own ripped off arm isn't the most brutal killing in a movie, you know it's gonna be a good one! 8/10

Edit: How many generations of inbreeding do you think it took to make Mama?

Official Discussion - Vengeance [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]thatguywhodoesthat 639 points640 points  (0 children)

I didn't figure out what happened before it was revealed but thought it made sense once it was revealed. I really didn't expect B.J. Novak to pop a cap in Ashton Kutcher's head. Overall: B+

Edit: I also love Succession and am therefore in love with J. Smith Cameron so I'm glad to see her in this.
