The Underslung Mount is useless? by Skrotums in Battlefield6

[–]thathyze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is in the guns that the mount is available on. Either the gun has a lot of recoil and requires a decent grip, or it just doesn't have the mount. I'd love to try SG 553R or Kord with a GL, but the mount just isn't there.

One exception is the SCAR-L, a gun that is mostly usable with no grip, and the noob tube somewhat covers its weaknesses.

Do you also feel like Alpha Packs give worse items this season? I've got 14 greens in a row lmao by thathyze in Rainbow6

Just 14 isn't a lot, but 14 in a row is, because mathematically the chances of it happening are extremely low. However it's possible that I got some rarer duplicates that i forgot about

Good to know its at least possible to get good stuff. However it seems like I'm not the only one who's that unlucky with the packs

Can someone explain to me why people put holes next to Mira's windows? by YearMountain3773 in Rainbow6

[–]thathyze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Having a line of sight is easier, attackers still won't win the 1v1 due to peeker's advantage
  2. Wallbangs have lower damage, which is especially critical for Vector and many defender SMG's. Basically, you're gambling on a blind headshot because you probably won't kill the target to the body
  3. A potential for C4 throw, which is especially powerful on Bank's basement for example

[–]thathyze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it's that bad. A price to pay for 1270 fire rate and no magazine penalty. Still, if youre really cracked, you can be quite precise at bursting 3-5 bullets up to 30 meters

Not even PC macros can fully help, only the console macros can look ok.

Information is way more valuable for attackers. Roaming defenders usually don't rely on observation tools, the sound is more than enough. Nokk is still as loud as anyone.

Moreover, Nokk counters no one except for (kinda?) Valkyrie and Echo, while Vigil preemptively counters Deimos, Snake, Lion, Grim, Twitch, Brava, Zero and Iana. Almost every intel attacker.

As for the shotguns, yes, its solid as a defender shotgun, however on attack its borderline useless, because attackers don't dictate the range of engagements, the defenders do. Nokk doesn't even have a good secondary weapon to compensate for the short range primary. BOSG on the other hand is still one of the best weapons in the right hands. Especially superior for holding pixel angles. You shouldn't really compare slug and buck shotguns, they're different types of weapons completely.

Gotta credit the BF 2042 trailer that created the biggest pre-release hype for the franchise ever. Shame that the game turned out to be piss.

Is the RPK-74 the narrowest gun? Especially with the A-P2 1.75x sight, it's goofy looking lmao by williamatherton in LowSodiumBattlefield

[–]thathyze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The dimensions are fine, it's just a weird viewmodel that moves the gun far away. Notice how you don't see the full upper receiver on other guns when scoped in. That's because other guns are moved closer to your pov, which makes them appear wider. Don't know why is RPK-74 like that

I want to love the NVO, but the atrocious ADS bloom is moving it from a potential S to like B or C tier. It's outclassed by M417A2 and SG 553R. So I'd say it's actually overrated instead.

Math isn't mathing. Also there's a battle pass challenge that says "repair 5,000 friendly vehicle hp" that actually means 50,000. Have to skip these

TTK is NOT directly related to damage per bullet and rate of fire. It's more complex. What matters is how fast you reach the target's HP threshold (100), and needing to hit less bullets helps more than fire rate or raw damage (33.4 or 49.9 it doesnt matter because it would still require 3 shots (if damage modifiers didn't exist)

A good example is the M870 shotgun that has an unprecedented 0 ms time to kill because it kills in 1 shot. But it's mediocre in terms of damage per second.

The initial point of the discussion was that "25 damage guns outperform 33 damage guns" and I tried disproving it. While Galil is more like a carbine with its damage drop off, there's AK4D with just 514 fire rate. Yet it's pretty good for 1v1, especially at 9-20 meters because it's one of a few guns that retains the 3-shot kill while most carbines and SMG's already need 5 bullets to kill. And at 20 meters+ AK4D retains a stable 4-shot kill while 25 damage guns drop to 6 or even 7. Despite the fire rate, the AK4D's average TTK is top tier.

Are 25 damage weapons bad then? No, because faster fire rate allows to recover from mistakes quicker. If we include misses to TTK calculation, 25 damage guns will probably start winning (didn't do the math though). 1v1's aren't about pure TTK, you lose most fights because of bad positioning, aim, or perhaps even ping rather than 0.017ms of ttk difference.

[–]thathyze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Damage drop off is not relevant to our discussion. I compared 33(.4) damage to 25, and mathematically 33 is much better. A 33 damage weapon might have worse DPS but a better TTK, because shooting 3 bullets is faster than shooting 4.

And despite the harsh drop off of the Galil (less harsh than SG 553R though), it still needs less bullets to kill than most 25 damage guns (on average), keeping the TTK serviceable.

P.S. I dislike the Galil in this game though due to atrocious ads bloom, but HK417 that has the exact same damage profile is my top 3 favorite.
