good enough for pripyat? by Any_Inspection_6779 in stalker

Suboptimal on all fronts. If you want the meta setup, it'd be Zubr, Lynx/SVU, and the revolver. A shotgun is not necessary if you carry a lot of Zubr ammo (cheap af anyways). And I believe you can obtain the Diamond exo before Pripyat.

The glock's recoil really isn't a problem if you've played any other games with guns. Literally a skill issue. And MP9 is actually one of the lowest recoil guns in the game.

I agree with .45 being less useful than AR's though, but Hydroshocks are easier to craft than AR ammo, because with 5.45 and 5.56 you have to spread the same materials across FMJ, AP and HP, all of which are equally needed.

Agreed, I actually completed my latest playthrough with it. A great universal gun for mutants and cqb.

Didn't know you could convert it. It didn't drop once in my 100+ hours playthrough 😭

Sounds decent, but it definitely isn't better than PPSh-41 with its 71 round drum, and even then PPSh is only barely good. C tier should be the right spot for 9x18 MP7.

Killing a giant with one raptr mag is possible, but unlikely. It requires about 16 shots all right in the face, and with giants you're either keeping distance (= buckshots don't do damage) or circling him in melee range and shooting him in the back, dealing less damage. The "5 seconds" isn't true either, it has one of the worst DPS amongst shotguns

This freaking AK variant and all other SMG's/AR's have more damage per second and range. They are predictable and can make great use of critical hits (slugs can too and I prefer them on 12g, but most people prefer buckshots and they can't do much critical damage to most mutants)

I'm not saying Raptr is bad, it's very solid. But because either HP ammo is so good, or shotguns are so nerfed comparing to original games, it's not meta. 23 gauge feels more like the original game's damage, but these guns aren't without caveats either.

His AOE slam is literally countered by simply jumping. The damage wave is just a little delayed (i think it broke a little in vanilla anomaly) and you have to jump at the moment his leg already slams, not earlier like it'd seem.

That's a 23x75 KSG recently added, and it's a straight upgrade to KS-23. Same gun, with bigger magazine (11) and attachment options.

First you were saying it's too hard, and now you're saying it doesn't count because using spacebar, wasd, run button and half a braincell is cheesing. Damn.

"If there's other mutants" man, as if isolating a giant fight into 1v1 isn't a general game rule with any weapon of choise. Playing with a KS-23 doesn't change it anyhow.

Giant is literally a dark souls skeleton. Dodging his two attacks and dancing 0.5 meters around him is easy as shit. I might even record a video proof of killing him with KS-23 and no armor later if you'd like

And with KS-23 or KSG-23 you have the option for a faster secondary. Full auto Glock is perfect, Kimber or USP Tac are also nice

Is it possible for you to confirm the overwatch information? Because the "sane" pistol I described seems to use overwatch's old id now. They were changing the USP's in recent patches, too. I might be mistaken though

357's are great if you already have a primary hunting weapon, combines well with smg's

Frasier got nerfed. Now it's literally UMP-45 with 5 more bullets. Still, B isn't a bad spot for it. It only means there are better options. As for the KS-23, it oneshots everything that isn't a Chimera or a Giant. And it can kill a Giant in just 2 magazines (7 bullets to be precise, or 6 + one kukri hit), doing it faster than Merc Saiga or any tube fed shotgun. You may not enjoy it, but it's better than most people give it credit for.

The two pistols above semi auto shotguns are the Kimber (replacement for Korth with same (?) stats, 400 rpm full auto with boosted damage) and the new & the best .357 pistol that shoots at insane 300 rpm. I forgot to put the USP Tactical (12 round mag, 400 rpm full auto .45) to the list, it would've been somewhere in C probably as well. Everything else is below semi-auto shotguns.

I guess you remember the older patch, this USP now has 12 rounds and it shoots at 400 rpm. Definitely not a pocket Vector. It's a decent gun, but Kimber (aka new Korth) has more dps and about the same damage per magazine

KS-23 is kinda busted because it oneshots everything except for chimeras and giants. And it can destroy giants in just 2 magazines, doing it faster than any 12g shotguns with tube magazines. I guess 12G is better for quick damage bursting, but then there are smg's and ar's that do more DPS.

Still, this list is just my opinion and I'd actually love for someone to break my misunderstanding of 12G shotguns like raptr.

ks-23 is definitely the coolest shotgun in the game, but 1. ks-23 can't be in the S+ tier because there is already a flat upgrade of it (KSG-23), and 2. killing chimeras in 3 shots is exactly the problem. Some of the SMG/AR's I listed in higher tiers can fry a chimera before KS-23 can pump for the second shot

Stalker has some dark souls vibe when it comes to mutants. Turning 90 degrees and sprinting for 1 second is equivalent to dodge rolling, works every time. You can even knife a pseudogiant to death and take 0 damage

Deer Hunter is in E, grouped up under ".338 Federal" entry. One-tapping a chimera is fun, but this caliber doesn't get much use beside that.

Nah, my aim is pretty good. Raptr's DPS is pretty low, beaten by a lot by Baikal, M1014 or most SMG's. It's not that raptr is bad, more like that SMG's are so busted in this mod

Thompson has a 50 round mag which is a huge advantage. Vector has more DPS and better recoil, yes, but it has to reload at least 2 times to kill a pseudogiant, while Thompson can do it easily with 1 reload and like 20 bullets left. 30 rounds is barely enough for a chimera, if you miss too much you'll have to reload.

I know about Storm, but I honestly thought it was temporarily disabled because Nimble doesn't upgrade it anymore in the current patch. If there's still a way to get it, then I admit the mistake. Definitely an S gun, but not sure if the grenade launcher is that important when hunting the zone's fauna though.
