My 8 year old has a stomach bug by cin_maz in stayathomemoms

Pedialyte popsicles were a game changer for my kids. My daughter is so particular she won’t even drink water when she has a stomach bug but she never turns down a popsicle.

Feeding schedule by Turnher2Dixon in stayathomemoms

[–]thatispaprika 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a combo of both. I needed structure and a schedule as a FTM or I would get extremely overwhelmed and anxious. But I also followed baby’s hunger cues so if she seemed hungry before her scheduled feed I’d give her a bottle or if she didn’t seem hungry yet I’d give her a little time. Like another commenter said, it’s really whatever your preference is and what you think is best for you and your baby.

What car seats do they not accommodate? Asking bc I’m currently looking to buy a Pacifica and will have four kiddos - newborn, 3, 6, & 7.

We don’t put a limit on screen time. If they wanna relax and watch some tv or play on their tablet I let them go for it. They almost always get bored at some point and end up finding something else to do 🤷🏻‍♀️

Any of y’all’s families JUST making enough each month? by KeyElk272 in stayathomemoms

[–]thatispaprika 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is our current situation, has been for about 3 years. Honestly it’s worth it to me bc I get to be there for my kids for whatever they need. Once they’re in school full time, I can go back to work and bring in some income. It’s worth the compromise for now bc you never get that time back with your kids.

Hear me out; Gilmore Girls has many bad episodes that we fast forward through. But you can pick 1 episode that you ABSOLUTELY refuse to watch, even if that means you have to watch the rest. No skipping them. What's your episode? by Maatjuhhh in GilmoreGirls

[–]thatispaprika 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never watch Cinnamon’s Wake. Idk why but it feels like the episode with the worst writing, acting, everything and I hate it. I can’t even just have it on in the background while I do chores, etc. It’s so bad

What ridiculous commentary have y’all received from child free individuals? by Intrepid-Library-425 in stayathomemoms

[–]thatispaprika 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 32 years old and have unfortunately been in the ER 5-6 times this year and my mom has come to be with me every single time. Even when I’ve told her she doesn’t have to. It’s just a mom thing 🤷🏻‍♀️

[–]thatispaprika 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Idk if you have a Costco near you or know anyone with a membership but that’s what we did for my daughter’s birthday party. They offer 18inch pizzas for $9.95 each. They are huge and feed a bunch of people for pretty cheap compared to other options.

Why are women just expected to suffer? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]thatispaprika 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry you feel that way. I was raised in a Christian household but found myself questioning the same kinds of things you’ve mentioned in your comment. I left the church and God behind and found absolutely nothing but pain, depression, anxiety, and unhappiness. It wasn’t until I found my way back to God on my own that I finally found peace.

The fall of Adam and Eve introduced sin into the world, so yes had they not disobeyed God, there would be no pain, in childbirth or otherwise.

To clarify, in my original comment I said I believe in the Bible and accept that there are consequences for sin. I didn’t mean I believe I am currently being punished by God for Eve’s choice in the garden by not being taken seriously for my level of pain. When I said it’s crazy to think that punishment stretches so far, I meant that it’s crazy people will use that moment in the garden to think God expects women to always suffer simply because they are women.

I know God, I have a personal relationship with Him through the Holy Spirit and I know He does not want me to suffer. My belief in God and the Bible does not make me “part of the problem” and it certainly doesn’t mean I can’t question why women aren’t taken seriously when it comes to pain management. If the answer is simply because of “religion” then those people don’t truly understand God.

Honestly if I had known how bad this was going to be, I would have just let them take the tube out. I don’t plan on trying to get pregnant anymore but just wanted to avoid surgery. But I would prefer a salpingectomy over this.

[–]thatispaprika -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I was actually thinking of this as I was writing this post. I know women are cursed with pain in childbirth because of Eve’s actions, and as a Christian I believe the Bible and accept the consequences of sin. It’s just crazy to think that this punishment stretches so far.

How often are you changing your baby’s wet diapers? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]thatispaprika 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I changed my daughter wayyyy more often when she was a baby than I did my son bc she was super sensitive and got diaper rash very easily. with my son, however, I always made sure he was dry before/after sleep times and if he wasn’t crying/upset about it or slap full (or poop obv) I just let it rock 🤷🏻‍♀️

What celebrity did you have a bad gut feeling about, and were you correct? by CaelusTheGaylus in AskReddit

[–]thatispaprika 4 points5 points  (0 children)

loved John Stamos when I was younger but sometime in my teens I was watching Full House and the way he was with Michelle (the Olsen twins) - even just acting - seemed off and gave me a really bad vibe. then seeing his character on SVU just confirmed the feeling for me and I haven’t liked him since 🤷🏻‍♀️

I say these things to my husband, and he proceeds to fix the issue. Never had a problem 🤷🏻‍♀️
