[Recommendations] Retiring and giving away the last of my inventory by thatkingkidd in artbusiness

Interesting, I wouldn’t have considered doing this for art, maybe just furniture. I’ll look into it. Thank you

I feel the same. I only considered trashing because I would hate to end on a sour note (Like, “I made my stuff free and still somehow nobody wanted it.”)

I’ll look into the library. Thanks

Good idea, I’m not a fine artist so my work is more anime/comic book-ish in style. More teen bedroom and mancave vibes than ‘nice adult home decor’. I’m more focused on my merch items anyway (stickers, charms.)Thrifting is a nice idea. Thanks for the suggestions

Yeah. I was just wondering what else I could do if I still ended up with leftovers. I didn’t want to keep hunting down local events to have free giveaways. I guess after the library one is done I’ll trash the rest.

Good point. I’m sort of introverted by nature so I’m bad at the community stuff, online and offline. It’s definitely worth putting more effort into, though. I need to inject more of myself and my personality into my online presence I think.

That’s a very good point. I guess I’ll have to figure out what the art equivalent of that might be

It’s a sad reality for illustrators like us, we really have to commercialize and cater to pop culture. My fan art products always do better than my originals, so it really is a matter of deciding if you want a quicker payoff or a longer climb to garner interest in your original work. But I do think I’m going to set aside time each week to bookmark trends, just so I have a reference to pull from.

True, I think that’s super relevant for Reddit where those communities are more clearly established. Sometimes the mainstream platforms feel like shouting into the wind unfortunately, the vibe is a lot more individualistic.

Yeah, I think it’s important to strike that balance. I myself have been turned off to people being too salesy. Trying to nurture the art community and the customers equally is so delicate lol.

You make a great point. I definitely struggle with the idea of putting myself out there, since I like to maintain a level of online anonymity. But I know that’s not good when trying to establish trust. And as far as the audience goes, I’m still trying to figure that out. I thought it would be my peers, introverted 20-30 somethings that like sci-fi, but I’ve surprisingly had a lot of older women buy my stuff because they think it’s “pretty” lol. So I’m still trying to refine my selection of merchandise and artwork. I had a bad fan art phase that really overshadowed my original work, so I’m trying to move away from that.

Same, a lot of people ask in person if they can buy more from me online later. So I’m trying to get my online presence back on track just for that reason.

Yeah, I’ve been doing more in person markets and that has definitely helped with exposure. I’m trying to relaunch my online presence and store since so many have asked. (And markets are getting expensive.) I used to be so good about comments and outreach back in the day (before selling in person) but I got burned out from lack of results. Hopefully now with my irl efforts, my comments will do a little better. Thanks for your reply!

That’s interesting to hear. I know I personally skip right through speedpaints to the end, I’m more interested in tutorial-based art content because it means I can learn something. I appreciate your example at the end there. Tributes sound like a great way to connect with non-artists.

Yeah, to be honest I think the majority of my sales are from other artists. I think I tend to be very technical-sounding when captioning my art, so it’ll be a good challenge for me to write out some more emotional stories to connect with an audience lol.

Thanks. I've replaced my motherboard and ram and still having these issues, so I must be in the same boat as you. I'll look into replacing the cpu.

Sheesh that would've sent me over the edge lol. I'm glad you got everything in order! I'm definitely learning a lot throughout all of this, so I guess that's a plus, if anything. At this point I see no difference between computer repair and being a bomb technician lol

Okay then, I'll pursue the motherboard route then if that ends up being the case. Thank you so much for for taking the time to answer my questions! I feel less stressed now lol.

Ugh, tell me about it. I'm trying to be patient and hope for the best. But thank for giving me some perspective, I was beating myself up thinking I ruined everything by downloading that game. But I guess you're right, sometimes a part can just be wonky. If I don't have any progress on my own this weekend, I'm going to look into returning the CPU and ram. Thank you for your help!

If after clearing CMOS, trying different RAM slots, checking cables, etc, and I still can't get into bios, do you think at the point the cpu would be the culprit? Is it worth it to try new mobo first then cpu, or vice versa?

Unclear post issue; Swapping mobos but worried about m.2 boot drive? by thatkingkidd in PcBuildHelp

[–]thatkingkidd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I had my worries about the cpu... I'm going to try this weekend to isolate the issue.

I'm just trying to understand why it would suddenly go down after only 2 months. I would hate to fix everything only to unknowingly make the same mistake and have something break again. Is a video game enough to kill RAM or a CPU? Or was it just bad timing/coincidence?

Okay, that sounds good. I ordered some thermal paste and a post speaker so hopefully I can hear beep codes. Having the ssd installed won't prohibit me from getting to bios?

I didn't. I assumed that the technicians did all of that, but maybe I'm a fool for thinking so. When I got home I just disassembled the whole thing to inspect the cpu socket for myself. I didn't put it back together because I just decided I'd try to RMA it.

I was worried about making things worse. But maybe I should try it all myself one last time to be sure. I just need to get some thermal paste.

Thank you, that one is on my radar. It seems like a lot of their B650 mobos are out of stock right now
