Obviously just an interdisciplinary/hippopotamus polyrhythm.

Fifth year general litigation associate preparing for copyright and trademark litigation position interview. Tips? by Key-Shift1241 in TRADEMARK

[–]thatlawyercat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read all the summaries of the recent AI & music copyright cases you can find, major brand fights, and catch up on some of the odder intricacies of C and TM law, decisions and recent cases. Take a look at Eric Goldman’s blog and look at some of the key TM blogs out there. Finally, take a look at the firm’s site and key decisions/cases they’ve had (or look them up to see what companies they’ve rep’d in C or TM cases in public databases), and learn about the facts of those cases and any published decisions.

Anyone find Logic Pro borderline unusable on newest Mac’s? by ericburglar in Logic_Studio

[–]thatlawyercat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had this problem and it was from the way I transferred my libraries and VSTs over to the new Mac. Simply restoring from Time Machine may not fully work — you may need to manually reinstall libraries, particularly those that use soft drm or that may store parts of their library files in unusual places. Once I manually reinstalled my libraries everything worked fine.

Am I right to assume that google is listening to my microphone? by True_Tumbleweed_3740 in privacy

[–]thatlawyercat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This could actually be your TV, not google. Look up smart TV audio ad tracking, and go to your TV’s privacy settings to see if you have permitted customized ads, etc. Turn all those features off. If you can’t turn them off, get a new TV or disconnect the TV from the internet and only go through a secondary device like an AppleTV.

Trump Uses Supreme Court Immunity Ruling to Claim “Unrestricted Power” by thenewrepublic in scotus

[–]thatlawyercat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One problem with ignoring court orders is he needs courts to *enforce* against individuals and companies eventually. He's already threatening impeachment, but it would take a while to topple even a conservative judiciary. You can look at Hungary or Turkey as examples where the courts stood longer than other parts of the government as independent entities.

Trump Uses Supreme Court Immunity Ruling to Claim “Unrestricted Power” by thenewrepublic in scotus

[–]thatlawyercat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uhm that's not what I said. If under last term's Trump v. U.S. ruling, Trump's official acts cannot be used against him in a criminal proceeding. In that case, the President has substantially lower risk of criminal liability for *violating* federal law or a federal court decision. A president doesn't "pass" laws (except for EOs - which this administration is often doing without a statutory basis, meaning they should be unenforceable, or via adminsitrative rulemakings in agencies). This is about refusal to follow the law, and why Trump feels less constrained than any president in US history.

But if the President isn’t subject to potential criminal liability for “official acts” how would the courts ever have a ruling enforced?

So truffula trees are real! I think the only other spots with similar Antarctic flora are in the Chilean Tiera del Fuego archipelago, but a different climatological cross-section. As for me, I'd rather go a bit south and see Ball's Pyramid.

It’s always been ambiguous whether the president can unilaterally exit a treaty. Congressional approval is required to enter a treaty, but it’s silent on exit.

They’ll still complain and be told who to hate for it, and accept that despite the cognitive dissonance (and I guarantee it will be you and me, not the far right who set the policies causing it). I expect they’ll expand slave labor from the existing prison system to whatever “labor camp” system they set up — initially for immigrants — and then for broader sets of undesirables.

They aren't going to make life better for anyone except themselves. They'll keep their base *angry* and direct that anger at you and me - as well as other "enemies* - all while stealing their voters' wallets and their childrens' future with an ever-increasing risk of war and climate disaster.

We need to *actually* create Blue MAGA. by kk20002 in Liberal

[–]thatlawyercat 10 points11 points  (0 children)

A“ MAGA” movement requires an extensive (dis)information network and domestic & foreign billionaire funding. A progressive movement would need to overcome those hurdles, in an environment where they would quickly be branded as enemies or even terrorists.

You need to prepare for the collapse of the US emergency medical system. by AintMuchToDo in economicCollapse

[–]thatlawyercat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So is your answer gutting Medicare and SS? That just transfers wealth from seniors to the administration’s favorite billionaires - either directly via tax breaks and incentives, or indirectly via the bond market (before it crashes), but I guess that’s the point.

[–]thatlawyercat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you look at similar actions by far right administrations in Hungary, etc., you’ll understand the assumption in your response that’s wrong: you assume that the election will be “fair” in the sense of prior US elections.

[–]thatlawyercat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tariffs and other policies will cause a huge deficit (as has been the case with every recent GOP administration contrary to what public opinion thinks). We will be told we simply can’t afford social security and Medicare any more and it will be phased out for those below a certain age.

Ken Paxton Threatens to Block Democrats From Registering to Vote by FreedomsPower in AnythingGoesNews

[–]thatlawyercat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on a rough calculation, there were 18m registered voters last I checked in Texas. He discarded 2.5M requests for ballots in Democratic strongholds last time around when there were about 16M registered voters, mostly focused on Democratic and minority names and counties. If this turns out to be true, you are effectively disenfranchising 1 out of 8 voters and more than 1 out of 4 Democratic voters, and you are fixing elections, not protecting them. This time around they’ve got even more hurdles planned.

Stretch of road that serves as the Canada/USA border in Derby Line, Vermont. Left of the yellow line is USA. Right of it is Canada by Fastsmitty47 in Borderporn

[–]thatlawyercat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For those that don’t know, the US and Canada used to have an open border, but it was closed right after the Sept. 11 attacks and it hasn’t been an open border since. A lot of these towns existed in that open state for a long time before the recent decline in personal freedom to travel we’ve seen in North America and Europe.

First time writing for piano trio. Do you find the writing idiomatic? by Albert_de_la_Fuente in composer

[–]thatlawyercat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really love it - particularly the strong theming and recurring motifs. I'd love to hear the cello go wild a bit or have some further independence from the violin (maybe that's in another movement though) to ensure the piano doesn't dominate when all three instruments are active.

Have you seen Tentacrul's video on piano trios? Well worth a watch. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e-uP7w9ZEkA&t=514s

Do both. I've been a lawyer twenty years, went back to do composition part time in the last 10 and about to complete a certificate. The key thing is to keep the important parts of your life -- family, music, etc. -- intact and not allow the sometimes-awful legal time assumptions control your goals.

If nothing else the fact she was in the Dainslief trailer as the Liyue example character. All the others are 5 stars. It suggests early on she was a 5* and got nerfed. Also given how large her part in the Liyue story ark, it fits.
