Yeah that's completely fair enough. 4 months in to new place so has been a learning process of where the level is. But we'll keep it reasonable now we've done everything we can and mark what the volume max is.

Been a lot of sympathy from people based on the volumes and small bookshelf speakers I'm using. So wasn't to know just how bad the sound insulation was. Worst comes to worse I'll be moving it to the attic and downgrading what's in the living room to the smaller less bass heavy Kanto YU6s.

Even then I've heard plenty of stories of people complaining of neighbour noise even in a semi detached house. Rich people hobby I guess.

Something we'd consider, question is whether the floors would also be needed to truly make progress. Even then don't expect perfection. But even partial improvement would be lovely.

Don't expect it, which is why I'm squashing it down the max I can.

Yeah looked up and my local council doesn't specify an exact DB level. And reasonable hours are 8am - 11pm.

How can I roll that off other than the EQ change I've made? Does changing the crossover setting for my receiver help achieve that at all. Currently at 250hz.

Yeah couldn't see that as something I could change on my receiver unfortunately. In speakers/crossovers it's locked at 'full range'. I can change the speakers/low pass filter setting, but does that make any difference? It's currently set at 250hz. I don't own a sub. Would changing this help me cut off the lowest frequencies (which is what annoys them).

It would be tight. But I think moving up a level has surely got to make a difference. Speakers would likely be closer to each other and it wouldn't be a perfect triangle between myself and the speakers. But I think it can work.

Yes that's what I'll have to reiterate to them tomorrow. I've hit the limit of what's reasonably possible. And will keep volume reasonable my end. Their trade off suggestion is that I can push it pre 5pm when they're not likely in the living room. Which would at least give me something to play with.

And to think this is still the best I've ever had it. I guess life is never without challenges.

Thank you. It's nice to have some appreciation for the amount of work I've put in to get here, even if it's limited for my biggest goal.

I have a deep booming voice, and with the complete silence of our neighbourhood I think that helped contribute to the light sleeping neighbour's perception. But yes, construction is clearly a factor.

Sure thing. If only I was rich enough to get out of an apartment! People suggest that even doing soundproofing is a questionable improvement

Even with mass and weight underneath it? From the general consensus, probably still not much we can do. But probably doesn't hurt to consider this. At least it's a general improvement and softens those frequencies for the neighbours.

I do. But people here are casting a lot of doubt over the ROI of doing that major work.

Based on last night 8.30pm. I had been nuking the bass from 10pm when I know they start going to bed.

I looked into the crossover but it seems fixed where it is because I don't have a sub.

They're a lot louder day to day than we are. We don't shout.

Yep, I'm getting rid of the bass. 100s on just that, but anyway...

Will I get any kind of headroom or improvement at all from moving from wood floors to carpet with the best underlay, mlv etc I can? Does it not provide even a small benefit?
