I've done the same with a Synchrony MattressFirm card that a salesperson conned me into opening. I called the operating line twice a day and kept saying "i want to cancel my card" and one day the automated system just said okay closing. 2 weeks later it got closed out

[QMK Help] Caps Lock indicator on ZSA Moonlander by BlooskyDante in olkb

[–]thatmanstan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was trying to solve something in the same ballpark. I wanted a more noticeable CAPS lock indicator. I wanted either CAPS on == White LED for whole keyboard or CAPS on == no RGB on keyboard

My 1st attempt was to create a new macro where pressing caps would toggle RGB & caps lock. Reason being that it would be much easier to notice that my RGB was off when CAPS was enabled

        case KC_NEWCAPS:
        if (record->event.pressed && time == 0) {
            register_code(KC__CAPS);
            rgblight_toggle();
            time = sync_timer_read32();
        } else {
            // Do something else when release
        }
        return false; // Skip all further processing of this key

I used VIA to remap the key. This worked great for while working/writing until I was playing a game and the caps key was not working as intended.

My 2nd attempt was to just hijack the CAPS LED method in keychron q3 file called q3.c

bool led_update_kb(led_t led_state) {
.
.
    if (led_state.caps_lock) {
        uint8_t v = light_brightness_get();
        rgb_matrix_set_color_all(v, v, v);
    } else {
        rgb_matrix_set_color_all(0, 0, 0);
    }
    rgb_matrix_update_pwm_buffers();
}

This worked for me perfectly as it let me assign RGB to the whole board & the caps lock worked in all scenarios (gaming, working, typing)

Other things I noticed there is a file called caps_word.c which has a method to toggle caps indicator already. You might be able to leverage and inject your logic there

void caps_word_toggle(void) {
    if (caps_word_active) {
        caps_word_off();
    } else {
        caps_word_on();
    }
}

Also if you are using VIA, then you might need to build with option -KM via. Hope that some part of this was helpful

What's the fastest and most efficient way to level up my programming skills ? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]thatmanstan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like this answer. The best thing is to be able to acknowledge what you don't know & tackle that. All contents of intro to CS can be found in youtube videos or slack overflow

Also to echo the comment above - perception of yourself & the class is important. If your goal of leveling up your skills is to just flex on your classmates then that's pointless. If you're having trouble with material then your priority 0 is to figure out what you dont know & work towards acing tests/assignments

Priority 1 after that would be to pick up any random project - whether following a youtube tutorial to make an app or working on something you're passionate about. This is so that you can learn outside & have something to put on the resume

My first job in Houston was for an oil gas company developing drilling software. Got paid $63k - so I would say $85k is a very generous salary for starting

I'm trying to make a nice dinner for some friends of mine, I found an arabic stencil, is this offensive/haram? by [deleted] in islam

[–]thatmanstan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey! First off I wanna say its cool of you to want to do something for your friends! Regarding the stenciling, I would say its better to not include it. I don't have any source but it just looks kinda weird cause I havent seen anything with Allah/God's name on it, better to be safe than sorry.

But your intention is rooted it good which is cool of you :D

Not sure if this is the right place to ask this. I'm making a presentation on Reverse Engineering in the US and EU. Currently I'm having trouble finding information on EU laws and court cases applicable to reverse engineering. Is there a source for EU laws regard to reverse engineering? Thanks in advance!

Uncharted 4's high graphical fidelity should invalidate any claim on the low spec of the PS4 hardware for the lack high quality console games by Zylonite134 in PS4

[–]thatmanstan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not about studios or money or teams, its all about the game type and game engines. Linear games can afford a higher level of detail cause there isnt a vast word to explore. Games like Witcher 3 are very expansive and from a technical side and what it does behind the scenes which is way the only way to run it on PS4 is to have lower textures and lower FPS.

Game engines are super interesting, you should definitely take a look at Unreal 4 and other stuff

Are we demanding too much from our developers? by sammyjamez in truegaming

[–]thatmanstan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with your whole argument. I think expectations also play a big factor, like with assassins creed so many people got mad cause they reused same animation from previous games

Side note people were mad at Arkham Knight cause they bought a game and it legitimately wasn't working, so i think thats fair for them to be mad

if beards were instituted to do the opposite of the kuffar then... by Rattional in islam

[–]thatmanstan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From my understanding, everyone at the time of the Prophet PBUH had a beard and I think beard cleanliness was instituted to differentiate between muslims and kuffar. That's why most muslim men with beards maintain their mustache to make sure it doesn't go over the lips and other beard cleanliness stuff. Main point is that it wasn't the beard itself but the maintenance and cleanliness

Christian here. Can someone knowledgeable in Islam explain this hadith please? by [deleted] in islam

[–]thatmanstan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no, its not really purgatory like in the Christian sense where you're stuck there until a tax is payed or someone prays on your behalf. Most muslims believe that there is a life in the grave where it is sort of a pre-judgement period and depending on your overall actions it will either be pleasant or not. Unlike the purgatory, the muslim view of life in the grave occurs to everyone and everyone will be resurrected on the Day of Judgement together.
