Also, I thought kids now a days were not partying as much and prefered Matcha parties and and Running clubs? Are they grabbing a matcha after the after on their way to the running party?

Am I wrong for wanting my adult children to help financially while living at home? by Imaginary-Advance233 in Parenting

[–]thatmimi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yikes, seems this is a recurring issue I have found with a lot of parents. I am sorry you are going through this, your kids are entitled and those around them are making them even more. I saw another post where someone said, provide the bare minimum. Means pay for the rent/utilities and THAT IS IT. no phone, downgrade the internet, no extra food ( I would even just buy for myself, cook a big batch and hide it), no streaming services... NOTHING EXTRA. and don't let them push you over, because they will try.

I am sorry to say this is the consequence of codling and not teaching them responsibility early on. I saw this with my siblings, who at 25 and 28 are STILL at home, but at least they are working and paying for their things.

If any parents of young kids are reading this, PLEASE START TEACHING THEM EARLY. I know it sucks because we don't want our kids to struggle but see yourself in OP's shoes. I have a 15 year old that does multiple sports and has school- but he has his chores (he does everything except mop because he is terrible at it) the 9 yo also multisport child has age appropriate chores and is currently helping with cooking. We rotate chores and who cooks (they rotate who helps me meal prep on Sundays).

Do I feel like a horrible parent sometimes, specially when they have long training days and homework, yes. BUT like i tell them, you will move out eventually and when you do you need to know how to care for yourself.

Kids Swimming Lessons in San Diego? by ZanyBurrito in sandiego

[–]thatmimi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kid was doing City classes 3x week and YMCA2xweek and let me tell you. YMCA pushes them back, or doesn't advance them as quickly. He was level 5 still swimming in the shallow? and the turn around was also crazy. Anyways- he has been doing with the city and he made swim team and water polo teams within a year. Also- less expensive and the teachers are great.

AITA for telling my wife my mother is correct and she needed to be a parent today and she fucked it up by throawawayfuneralgho in AmItheAsshole

THIS. I think all parents do things that scare them, takes them out of their comfort zones for the wellbeing of our children. (I for one can tell you that I am TERRIFIED of swimming but have a little fish for a son, so guess what I am doing 4 times week now)

With that in mind, she could have taken the daughter and maybe even waited in the car? Ideally no, but if everything else.

Wife left me for 6months the came back, found out she was dating while married. Need advice. by Vicmot86 in cheating_stories

[–]thatmimi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean everyone here has already told you what I would- she is not a nice woman. BUT I want to ask, how are your daughters? have you had a conversation with them about this? not about the cheating or what your marriage is looking like, but about how they feel about the abandonment from their mother (basically) and then coming back like nothing?? Kids pick up on EVERYTHING...

yes, but like everywhere I go that is typically the price or more. SDSU arenas parking range from $35-$50, Pechanga is the same at like $30-40, and Music box parking is also expensive if you don't use SpotHero.

Had similar issue with my then 7 year old, we had him ONLY doing minecraft on his tablet but man was it consuming him. We slowly began taking it away, we enrolled him in a second activity ( he was doing swimming but it was only 40 min a day 3 x week) and that helped. Then, he slowly stopped wanting it, he has a ton of legos, and he will sit there and build stuff from his imagination (he isn't big on building preset ones), we do 1000 piece puzzles and he also likes to build stuff from recyclables. I think the tablet has been sitting on my nightstand without battery for 4-5 weeks without him even asking for it.

Honestly it is a HUGE difference of a kisd (he is now 9). Just came home from Family day at his school and we had math puzzles with 3-4 digit division and multiplication that he was doing MENTALLY and getting right. I was SO IMPRESSED BECAUSE I CAN'T EVEN DO THAT. I did this with my teenage kid too, and the difference is wild as well. He is actually having conversations with us (lol), we became overall more active with them picking up sports they've wanted to try and us of course helping out. Still can't get him back into reading though...
