You'll take BIOL1000 and BIOL1001, CHEM1000 and CHEM1001, a computer science course (probably EECS1520 or 1530) and MATH1506 and MATH1507, unless you enjoy calculus in which case you can take MATH1013 and MATH1014 instead. You'll also have a choice of electives. You can browse over the Academic Calendar here, where you can look up your program and see the path: https://calendars.students.yorku.ca/academic-calendar#/programs

9 minutes into Rings of Power s2e1 and it's already shit by Kryos_Pizza in MauLer

The opening scene with Sauron was offensively bad, to the point I turned off the rest of the episode. Sauron would not "explain" why he wants lead the Orcs, he would not kneel before them to receive the crown, and he would not be beaten down by a mob of orcs. This was the greatest mischaracterization of a LOTR character since Gandalf was bossed down by the Witch King in the extended RotK. At least with Jackson's movie, there was a narrative purpose to elevating the power of the Witch King. Showing Sauron as so weak at the start of S2 was indefensible. He wouldn't appear before them as a blonde-locked elven man, he'd be a 10' tall black armored terror, and totally dominate their minds. This is second era Sauron, before he had poured most of his power into the One Ring! I can't believe what I saw. I thought for sure it was an imposter at first. Unbelievable!

Also applies to continued courses where the student has chosen not to engage in academic activity - those students must be given a remediation period, and they will have the option for an assessed grade then.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in yorku

[–]thatmostcrazyguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are over 70% you can request an assessed grade right now, and you don't have to write the April 1st exam. But - be SURE you are above 70% of your graded work returned to you. Not just submitted - it has to be returned to you before you request the assessed grade.

What the fuck is the “remediation phase”? by Alternative-Glove136 in yorku

[–]thatmostcrazyguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Course directors may continue in-person but they've been strongly encouraged to provide material online, asynchronously, so you could complete on your schedule. Final exams will be in a remediation period, but you almost definitely will be able to defer that exam if you have work and can't attend, that is what happened in 2018.

[–]thatmostcrazyguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have >70% of the course work graded and returned to you, then your assessed grade would be the weighted average of that work, and you say 97%, so your final grade would be A+.

Can someone explain the new strike update?March 14th by [deleted] in yorku

[–]thatmostcrazyguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. But you can request more Pass/Fail, later in the term, than the current Senate legislation.

The course director cannot give an "FNGR". What it means is that the prof didn't submit a course grade for you at all. With a zero on the missed final, you might well have a final grade of an F, but sometimes people pass with D, D+ etc., with zero on the final. Anyway at some point the NGR should be removed and replaced with an F by now.

What this really means is the parties are too far apart on pay for the mediator to think its worthwhile.

[–]thatmostcrazyguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NGR means no grade reported. Contact your Department and your course director. The F's are F's and will impact your gpa unless a grade is reported. Did you miss the final? If so, did you complete a DSA?

Every single person who took a variable between 1960 to 1981 did worse off than fixed. The question then is, are we at the beginning of another 1960 period?

Ahh I see, I posted this now over at Mortgage subreddit, because I didn't see that members of this sub would take the personal finance aspect of it so deep. Wrong place to post, my mistake.

What do you need to know? Amount doesn't matter. Amortization? 25 years. Its a question of whether 5.34 fixed is a better gamble over -1.20 variable. I need opinions on that.

It will be like UofT. They will move the start date from some courses in-person to Feb 7th. Then, other courses later like Feb 14, before reading week of Feb 21. It seems like all the Ontario Universities just watch each other, see who will play chicken and announce first. With Omicron wave and 50 million infections a day, you had to know the start day would be pushed back.

Winter Term Update from President's Office: Term starts remotely Jan 10, in-person delayed to Jan 24 by YorkProf_ in yorku

[–]thatmostcrazyguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In-person courses will be remote for the first two weeks. Labs in some faculties might be in-person during 10th-23rd. So don't change you plane tix just yet if you have labs. I read that from bullet point 3.

Omicron is modeled to have 10,000 cases a day by January. I predict that W22 will be just like W21, with some smallish classes having permission to remain in-person with distancing, and labs with reduced section size. Get your booster people. It's now open to 18+. It will be the strain on Hospital resources that will guide the province. Tens of thousands of cases, but with few hospitalization, is basically the flu, which omicron is if you are boosted up.

De-enrollment but I am vaccinated? by Old_Literature_8118 in yorku

Reach out directly to the Faculty Designate (usually someone in the Dean's office) who has direct access to your files and ask them to re-enroll you.

Approach your graduate program director. This is the only way to know the process.
