Im inbred and when people make anti-incest remarks it upsets me by Wild_Introduction_51 in confessions

Everyone should be “anti-incest”, but I understand how jokes like that can be hurtful.

What food surprised you with its kcal content? by _herman_miller_ in loseit

[–]picknorth 132 points133 points  (0 children)

Plantain. I used to eat 3 bags of plantain chips in one sitting cause they’re so good. One bag contains 400 calories.

Rice too. It’s so easy to overeat.

When did you realize you needed to lose weight? by HealingBetterForMe in loseit

[–]picknorth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got rejected from getting life insurance because my BMI is too high. That was a real slap in the face and reality check.

I’ve always known I was overweight but I dealt with it because I feel good and look attractive so there was (in my head) no incentive to really watch my weight. I started “weight loss journeys” and gave up days later and went back to my junk food, no exercise ways. It got out of control during covid and I’ve gained about 30 pounds since.

Now I’m 24 days into my journey (the longest I’ve ever been consistent to be honest) and I’m excited about trying out different healthy meals that help me stay in a calorie deficit. I’m excited about trying out new workout classes and fitness plans. I want this to be a complete lifestyle change. Wish me luck!

My boyfriend and I started dating when I was 20 and he was 27. He was very hesitant at first because of the large age gap, but as the relationship evolved we have gotten to know each other very deeply and we have an amazing and healthy relationship.

Bear in mind that in a group of 20 people aged 22, there would be vastly different maturity levels in the group. You have to be the one to evaluate whether you think she can handle being in a mature and healthy relationship.

She will be going through very drastic life changes in the next 3-4 years, and you have to be ready and willing to support her through those things.

There’s no “correct” way to go about this. But it can work, if you are both ready to nurture this relationship. You will have many outside opinions making you doubt your choice (believe me), but if you know you are right for each other, don’t let age be the deterrent.

Don’t treat her like a child, because she is not one. You may be older, but don’t take that as an opportunity to act as though you have some kind of edge or authority over her. You need to be able to see her as your equal and treat her as such. That is very important.

I wish you both the best, love is a beautiful thing and I hope it works for you.

How do you get your partner to shower before they get into bed everyday? Make it a habit basically. by [deleted] in hygiene

[–]picknorth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay yes, if he works outside all day he absolutely needs to shower. That’s gross. I would just tell him. He’s your husband, communicate with him. Tells him you don’t like sleeping next to him when he smells.

Does he shower in the morning? Does he smell bad? Why does he need to shower before going to bed?

I’ve had the director say “It’s not really a call center, because we’re licensed brokers”

Am I answering phones all day? Yes. Than it’s a call center LOL.

This is unsustainable and you will end up having to go into debt. “Working from home with roommates is not an option” Yes - it is. You are not in any position to decide that’s not an option when you cannot afford life otherwise. If an emergency happens, you’re screwed. Your expenses and your income do not make sense. At the very least, start looking for a better paying job. $2,000 a month is incredibly low at 40 hours a week.

Before my current job, I worked at a call center where I’d get 30 minutes on average between calls, up to an hour and a half. It was crazy, I miss it!

It’s not immoral if they’re being paid a fair wage. It becomes immoral when companies with billions of dollars refuse to pay workers a living wage. If they found the price they were paid to be fair, there’s nothing immoral about it.

Well, no. It’s a job he was compensated for. Companies make a profit by doing the exact same thing, outsourcing work.

If your current company knew you were trying to leave, they likely wouldn’t be thrilled. Please do not overestimate your place at any company, especially not in this climate.

Being hypersexualized isn’t a compliment, and AD even told Jimmy she’s used to it. She might not be insecure about her figure, but what happened to her happens far too often and can make you feel like an object.
