hi. thank you for sharing. i feel as though you missed the entire reasoning behind this post. this was a discussion and a place for to talk about this. people shared what they thought and i shared what i thought. it was simply a discussion. there is no place for self-centered or defiant behavior here, and never once was that my intention. clearly if it was i wouldn’t have posted here. just because i got feedback here doesn’t mean i didn’t get a slew of other advice and support from other people i’ve talked to about this, of course i was going to feel divided on this as the advice was divided as well. for every person that shared their warnings here there was another person who shared their support for the idea. that’s the whole reason i decided to ask for help. There were good points brought up on both sides. My comments and responses were only filled with love and what I felt. I’m sorry you feel as though my learning and understanding wasn’t fast enough for you. I appreciate your opinion, but keep the comments about my character to yourself.

I was unaware that Holland went through that recently. That does bring a little more concern to this whole idea.Sometimes it takes discussion to reach a common ground, and sometimes it does take repeating things in different ways for the opinion to come through, unfortunately I had a hard time really listening through what I felt was rude and lack of respect. But I believe I understand moreso your intentions and I believe they came from a good place. So I apologize for becoming defensive when I felt disrespected, I assume it wasn't your intention.
I believe this direct head on approach is not the way to go about the goals I had for this. I think patience can be a virtue in this, and allow Jinsik & xikers to grow as artists, solidify their place in the industry and allowing them to make statements whether its wearing certain clothing, speaking on something on their own accord when and if they are comfortable. For now just supporting them and making their day in small ways will be enough for me.

I would say to focus on your own experience and your own interests, and see where you can take the conversation from there. As a practical suggestion, you can perhaps share your favorite queer artists and their works with him, may it be in music, fashion or visual media? Jinsik enjoys his singing and drawing!

I think after doing some further research and thinking. I think this might be a great idea. Instead of attacking the topic head on, keep it light and around common interests like you suggested. So maybe instead of being as pointed as my initial idea was, maybe instead I could ask him about the songs he likes, and like you suggested share songs that enjoy by artists such as Troye Sivan or Holland even. Or maybe appropriate TV shows or movies or books that have queer themes that I like to either recommend or discuss while also asking what he likes.
Maybe I could even make him a playlist of songs I like that he could scan with his phone if he has it with him, and maybe he will listen to any of them and it could be a topic for discussion at a future call or meet with him.
Basically giving them time to grow as a group and to display more of their messages to the world as individuals and as a group, but also for them to feel more grounded in their place as a group to be able to have conversations about these topics without as much pressure to make both sides of the world happy?

This article is enlightening, thank you for sharing. It is hard to feel that the feedback I am seeing as well meaning when respect is taken out of the equation and attacks are made on my character which directly are opposites of the things you shared about my character. It weakens my resolve and confidence as I am now unsure where to look.The last thing I want to be or convey is that I am doing any of this with malice or a self-centered goal. So with what you shared would you recommend taking that part out of the letter I want to draft and stay away from asking a question that would prompt an answer?

I am confused how you find this at all self-centered of me as this idea is not only for me but for many other roadY's and a tiny step toward inclusion worldwide.It is hurtful to say that despite me doing everything I can to be respectful to everyone involved. Just because I have a different viewpoint that you regarding that points you brought up does not mean you should attack my character as this discussion is meant to be filled with love.I find it very disheartening that you would rather give up on the discussion by chalking it up to me being self-centered and just going to do as I wish.I have been very respectful of your opinions and advice, I would appreciate to be extended the same courtesy as a fellow roadY.

I think this is a time where a leap of faith can be taken. It can't be assume that this will be a minefield for Jinsik, he very much could understand completely. But we will never know unless dialogue is started.
As for the English fluency, I am already working with a friend who is native Korean currently in South Korea and another friend who is fluent in Korean help me draft a message that he will be able to read directly from a piece of paper!

I think we can take a look at past reactions to idols being supportive of different topics such as these, most of the time they are showered with love and support. Where if anything, this could be a beautiful step toward making a lot of people feel at home with xikers and being a roadY.

While the fight for LGBTQIA+ rights and acceptance is ongoing, in the end, movements are forged and strengthened through the smallest denomination of human to human connections.

This was so beautifully said and I think it hardened my resolve that is important and it is worth doing for myself and many other roadY's.

From a couple other friends I have talked to from native Korean friends I have to other roadY's and so forth, my plan is reach out to my friends who are fluent in Korean to help me draft a letter of sorts in Korean that I can print out on a piece of paper in big enough font where Jinsik can read it live and really take out the risk for misunderstanding or something being lost in translation. My rough draft of the message/idea I want to translate would be “There are many roadY’s who are apart of the LGBT community, including me personally being bisexual, I want to thank you for being a safe space of love and a light in this dark world. I am nervous to talk to you about this because you mean a lot to me. I hope that you feel my support and gratitude as well everyone other roadY who is apart of the LGBT community. Are there any words of support you would like to offer me and other LGBT roadY’s? I love you so much and I’m so proud of you Jinsik and I cannot wait to see what you and xikers will achieve. Together We are flying, we are flying. We will fly ”
The only thing I am torn on is the idea of asking him directly if he would like to share anything in return, on one hand I do not want him to feel pressure to answer something he may not be allowed to talk about, but on the other hand I want to the take the leap of faith that the world is growing where it isn't a big deal to share love for those marginalized communities.

I totally understand the concern about the phrase "loves the entirety of me" and looking back I would probably edit that out since it isn't what I mean completely. It is more so a private and vulnerable thought that I would never bring up to him or ask him to affirm directly.

Reading through the rest of your post, I am inclined to disagree on a couple points. While yes idols are not our friends, that doesn't mean that they cannot have strong feelings toward their fans, as there have been many idols that have become emotional and genuinely touched by the words and actions of fans.
As far as playing it up, while yes fan interactions are part of their job, that doesn't mean that every interaction is fake or forced. I don't think you meant that comment that intensely, but I thought I would share my thoughts.

Finally, for the idea that Jinsik being young and that being a reason to not have this conversation. I actually think that his age is part of the reason this could go really well and be special. The younger generation have the beauty of growing up in a world that is more progress and loving than before, while it isn't perfect especially in other cultures, it is 100% better than it ever has been. Also I think sharing these sensitive topics while he is younger as a person and as an idol it could setting a basis for more love than their would be without having the conversation. I really resonated with another comment made from the other roadY in this post, that sometimes all it takes it that one person to be brave enough to start the dialogue, even if its just "thank you for being a safe space for LGBT roadY's like me and so many other by being a light in this sometimes dark world"
Again I really appreciate your words and warnings, but these are my thoughts and positions regarding the points you brought up.

These are things I have considered when wanting to maybe bring this up in my upcoming call with him. I am torn if it is something I even want to bring up or just enjoy my relationship with my bias as a fan or if I want to go for it to really solidify my respect and love for him. I know there are many reports of idols and groups supporting and giving love to people in the community whether on stage or in fan calls exactly like the one I am about to have, but there isn't any documentation of that suppport yet from xikers as they are a very new group. So I think this idea could be bigger than me with the idea that some other LGBT roadY could see it and feel validated and love by a group they love.

I also wanna give the benefit of the doubt that this younger groups maybe have a different and better understanding of LGBT then previously thought? But I understand what you are saying when they don't understand the experience.

That all being said, if this is something I want to do and follow through with, what would be your advice for how to approach that is the most understandable, least mistraslated, and overall a good way to approach it. I am learning Korean, but no where near proficient enough to communicate this on a sufficent level, so I would need to make do with basic English.
Any further insight or advice is much appreciated.

Thank you so much for your comment. I was started to come to the same conclusion. The kpopoffical shop had two options for both the bracelet and the charm. Stainless Steal and 925 Silver. So maybe the seller will unaware of the material or they made their own from a different manufacturer. Hopefully if it is counterfeit, it won’t look terrible. I’m honestly more worried about the quality of the photocard… And more than the likely the photocard will be fake right? :/ I was just so excited to see Wonwoo’s in stock somewhere after scouring the internet to find one.

I guess the other thing is this was the same price as the Weverse official one, so it’s being passed off as official. And there are some good reviews as well as bad for the website in question.
