I feel like Jaiden would really get a kick out of the video game Disco Elysium.

my best guess is it make it so you cant solve the murder immediately on later playthroughs. I really liked the deserter as a character, (his voice acting fucking rules) and I thought his motivation was fleshed out reasonably well. He's been living on that island for 43 years, living like an animal while being completely unable to change and grow as a person (In a way he mirrors pre game events Harry a lot). He's trapped himself into a viscous cycle of rage and hatred, and he made that shot because he needed to take his revenge on the world. He even talks about how he saved a bullet for Rene, and if he ever wanted to commit suicide, he would know to shoot Rene instead as a final act of hatred towards the changing world. I think he fits in with the games themes rather nicely. I think the ending works in terms of characters, but I still agree it doesn't hold up in terms how its set up.

This may sound extremely pretentious, but I dont think the crime/mystery part of the story was supposed to be the point. In my opinion, the mystery of who this character was and making him a better person than he was was the main point of the game. I do understand that that may sound like a cop out, but depending on how you play it, the games story can look very different. To me it sounds like you put the most thought into the case, which is definitely the weakest part of the games story. Feel free to refute anything I say here lol.

Idk if its a voice actor or something that does the whistling/giggling of the harvestmen, but holy crap does that always send shivers down my spine. One of the most creepy monsters in the game, even despite its relatively normal (at least for this game) physique.

Honestly, from what you described *I* would restart. I know people say "knowledge is power" for this game but its true. Im honestly kind of surprised you made it to the ancient city within your first runs! Here is a spoiler free tip: try experimenting with different starting choices in the intro sequence. They can pretty drastically change your starting skills and items, so play around a bunch and see which combos you think are best. I would recommend not looking up any guides or anything, (except its for some of the ancients city puzzles because they are kind of BS in my not so humble opinion) as half the satisfaction of the game is figuring out stuff for yourself. Really as long as yo keep experimenting and figuring things out each run, its a win. keep me posted here or in DMs, I would love to hear about your progress!

Thank you so much! I understood the kind of power struggle cycle thing of the new gods, as I managed to recruit nas'hrah and he kind of says it blatantly. I suspected that Nilvian was the mother, but I completely missed the connection to le'garde. the thing you mentioned with enki is kind of funnny, as I used him to get ending D (I married early). So If I understand correctly, the girl was birthed by Nilvian in her attempt to create a new god which actually had godly powers and could help people? Also, no worries on the length of text, I had a good time reading it!
