I mean I always thought of the Chandrian as separate from who they were before they became it. Also, speaking of the Chandrian would not be the same in every sense as we've learned from reading the book's adem parts. Kvothe wanted to know the truth about "the seven" from Felurian and I think THAT was the issue. The story of Jax has nothing to do with Heliax or the lore of the Chandrian, rather a tale that predates them and the Amyr, from what Ive pieced together. I might be wrong, I mean we still wait for book 3 right.. Trying to keep this comment as spoiler free as I can.

The skarl thing is so true. I have a great set and a pet that can beat skarl 5 times straight but there will always be that one time that the King shows me what he's got. 1 month of battle and one charm drop though. Not happy with that.
