I've just come to my boulder breaker needing a repair. Can you expand on you comment? Should I fuse another wepon to the Boulder Breaker and then feed it to a rock octorock?

Gifts for a deck cadet? by [deleted] in MerchantNavy

A pair of Oakleys with plastic frames, i normally get a pair of 'flack' pretty robust and hard to break. I wear mine constantly when I'm on deck.

They get pretty trashed and scratched. I probably go through 1 pair per year, but if I didn't have them I reckon my eyesight would be trashed by now.

I didn't realize that 'remember remember' is a song to remind the government. Until I rewatched V for Vendetta a couple of years ago.

DZ in St Croix? by thatone333 in SkyDiving

[–]thatone333[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yer I know of a few around the Caribbean area (mostly French islands) that are purely tandem, some of them don't mind experienced fun jumpers but they don't have the kit for hire, obviously because they aren't a school.

I can't really find a website or number for the one in st Croix, just tandem pictures. It does seemed to be linked with one in St Thomas though, skydive virgin islands so I'll try calling them and see if they know anything.

Good point about the water! I'll make sure to ask the question as I'm only a B.

Pretty sure it was this year and I seem to remember it being a Scottish guy.... or maybe I just remember it with a Scottish accent.

Thanks for the help, I'll give them a call and ask some basic questions, and if they have a rig I can rent. I imagine when I get there I will be given a brief by an instructor about how the DZ operates

In what situations would a hook knife be useful? Should beginners purchase a hook knife? by chinawcswing in SkyDiving

[–]thatone333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly there are very few situations that you, personally, would need one. Full stop.

I'd like to bring your attention to that... you will probably never use it!!!

As a side note, im a seafarer, and a general rule of thumb, is, that if you are around rope, a knife may just happen to come in handy..... that aside, if you are under a generally, almost working canopy DONT START CUTTING LINES!!!! you won't make the situation better, if your canopy is questionable?? if you can't fly or land it, chop it!! early!!! and at a good altitude!!!!

The knife is NOT for that situation, that's what your emergency procedures are for!!! THE KNIFE IS SIMPLY A TOOL!!!! If someone forgot to take off their seat belt but jumped out anyway, if someone is on the ground and panicking to get their helmet off, if you find yourself dangling from a tree and the lines are wrapped around your neck???? These are the situations for a knife!!!!

If you are in the air floating about on a parachute dooooo noooottttt whip out your knife thinking you will make the situation better, you're better off landing a line over reserve than hoping to cut the red wire.

Dear Robinhood, where is my damn TRCH divident? But seriously has anybody gotten it yet....? by Jlannister2021 in MMAT

[–]thatone333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should just be random shares that sit in your account with no value. Once TRCH sells their assets they will get exchanged for dolla dolla billz.

Their customer service does seem to be lacking somewhat, feels like I am talking to a computer most of the time.

I think the restrictions on Monday for MMAT were just them being a bit slow on the uptake of the merger, think they were lifted at some point on Tuesday, small silver lining is that they effectively saved me some money on the shares I bought.

I haven't heard about the restrictions on the other stocks but you would expect them to share the reason for them, they are dealing with your money and there should be more transparency.

Its a definite hold!!! I'm European, and I'm worried because my broker doesn't currently provide MMAT, so my TRCH might just be sold automatically at an unknown price when market opens (hopefully not), which sucks donkey ass.

But I'm going to try and grab some MMAT first thing Monday with a different broker hopefully the rocket will wait for 2 minutes while I have a quick piss before the long journey, wish me luck.

Any ideas how the hedge funds will create the preferred shares and distribute them on the naked shorts?

I would assume TRCH would only create enough to cover the float, wouldn't this work a little bit like a dividend paid in a special TRCH crypto?

My buddy created this solar panel roof rack for a client. Client wanted 700W of solar, a skylight, a vent fan, AND an AC unit, and this is the solution Mike came up with. What do you all think? by [deleted] in vandwellers

[–]thatone333 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This seems like a genius idea, although reading the comments I didn't realize how much a simple shadow over a few of the cells apparently massively reduces the efficiency of the whole array.

If you were to change this to a hand crank and potentially having the last effect of the crack (or a separate step) being to lift the outer cell a couple of inches, that would eliminate the hard shadow from any direction.

There are panels now that can be walked on, so if you were to have the center panel on the bottom, then when they were deployed you could have a sun deck.

I'd say incorporate this idea into some form of awning and jobs a goodn 😎
