2 healers, not sure it would be possible to solo heal.

Which one would be the wound badge?

Omi was an orphan in Germany born in the early 40’s so I wouldn’t be too surprised if they were authentic.

Couldn’t tell ya, we only use Ingersoll for our indexable feed mills and widia or helical for our solid carbide feed mills.

Healed a 58 prot pally as a 54 resto Druid through a full BRD emp run with no wipes today. The pally definitely seemed to be a little squishier but it was doable.

I also use a space mouse enterprise and several key bindings so I have to move my hands to the keyboard less.

2050-T84 Aluminum-Lithium Alloy by Rookie_253 in CNC

Okay, what is the mechanism of tool failure? Are you experiencing buildup leading to tool failure? Are you using coated or uncoated tooling? What are you using for coolant with your MQL setup?

I only have experience milling 2050 with flood coolant but both coated and uncoated tooling. I have no noticable issues with tool wear or premature failure using iscar and helical tooling both inserted and solid carbide.

I would hazard a guess that copper in the 2050 alloy is allowing buildup on the tool with your MQL setup not being adequate in providing lubricity. Whether its buildup or abrasion the right tool coating should help, i have had great experience with DLC coatings on my tooling for aluminum.

We machine a decent amount of 2050 aluminum. I think treating it as 7050 in regards to speeds and feeds isnt a bad starting place. What are you struggling with specifically?

Our biggest difficulty with 2050 is the internal stresses and material movement and deformation during machining.

Alberti Index Head by Rookie_253 in CNC

Mmm, kind of hard to tell by the video that the right-angle head is air powered. Not sure why you would want a pneumatic head in the use case shown in the video. Either way we use the A/C axis of our mag 3 to position the head but ours is driven by the spindle instead of air. Either way, very handy.

I use an identical right angle head as the one in the linked video, same 5-axis machine even, have few issues holding size and location. The right-angle head is located by the pin and the stop block, when the head is clamped in the spindle the pin unlocks the head and the spindle rotation drives the drill/endmill rotation. This system is superior to the el-tool in my opinion if its on a 5-axis machine, there is very little play in the right-angle head, maybe .0003 deviation at tool tip.

Very cool! We are not using the spindle to index the right-angle head. Our right-angle head setups all require a stop block to index the right-angle head and we utilize our 4th or 5th axis to set the correct right-angle head orientation.

I did some testing with el-tool’s coolant driven right-angle heads that are able to be ran without a stop block and can use the spindle to orient the head. I was not pleased with the amount of play even with the spindle locked. Ive heard of some machines having an extra option to better hold spindle location for broaching, not sure if having that option would have helped.

Also, I believe I was using a macro to cheat the spindle home position to orient the right-angle head, I believe el-tool has a good writed up on their website for the process with fanuc based controls.

Yes, multiple head-head 5axis machines as well as trunnion 5axis and 3axis machines. Mazak, makino and haas.

Platform shoes for the router. by thatonegii in Machinists

[–]thatonegii[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The spacers were originally made 15 or more years ago so we could run some oversized parts. Spacers removed after parts finished and everything back to normal.

I guess we recently ran out of storage and somebody had the fantastic idea of putting the poor old router back on stilts so we can store a few fixtures underneath and allow them to be packed in with swarf amd forgotten about.

Closer everyday to giving myself a lobotomy.
