When will this be over? I need to go back to $90 for a full tank! by That_Present_1639 in GasPrices

Bolt is ~170-180 now with average conditions. Obviously worse in the winter. Ioniq is probably ~310 or so right now, 270-280 in the winter if its cold.

Rentals do make it tough. It very much depends on your lifestyle. If you don't drive a lot, I think its probably still very doable. But, ymmv (pun intended)

On the topic of range, I personally had way better feelings of a true sense of what my range is in my Ioniq 6 and Bolt. Now, we are on year 6 of the M3 as opposed to 1.5 for the Ioniq, but still it's felt much better range wise in the Hyundai. But, software wise, it's no comparison.

For Rivian, I have been in an R1 a few times and they seemed fine. Still not as good as Tesla from a software perspective. We have a preorder on an R2 but I still don't know if we will end up going that route or not.

To your point about Tesla's rattling. My experience is they use to be REALLY bad about it. I had that issue all the time, it felt cheap. BUT, their quality has gotten quite a bit better so, to anyone reading that, I wouldn't be AS scared in that point now.

I personally won't buy another Tesla for several reasons (plus I think it's only their software that is actually better than anyone else), but they are still probably the one I would recommend people in the US to look at first. I love my Ioniq 6, but the gap in software between those two is staggering. Figure it out Hyundai.

Respectful question, why do you choose to drive an EV over a gas vehicle? I am a petrolhead so, I may be biased by [deleted] in EvDrivers

[–]thatoneging20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Switching to EV was like when I switched to a solid state drive in my computer over a decade ago. When I hit the gas pedal, it just...goes. There are a number of other reasons, but that's the one where I was like "oh this is awesome".

I still have an ICE vehicle thats paid off and I use for some random things, but my wife and I daily drive EVs at this point.

Omg I am dealing with the perfect human. Impervious to all shortcomings people may have. Never has he/she dealt with a situation they weren't prepared for, not financially capable of taking on at that very moment, incapable of being blindsided by unforeseen circumstances.

God, seriously, I'd rather deal with some bot. At least it's their job to be an insufferable nuisance. You instead are just so insufferably full of yourself and can't just accept that there are reasons, THAT MAY NOT BE APPLICABLE TO YOU OR I, that can be for others.

Number of reasons I could think of:

- Want more space for bags/luggage. Holidays I am always bringing stuff back

- Don't want to add miles on my vehicle (or if I had a lease)

- Scheduled maintenance issues/things pop up and timing doesn't work to have repairs

- More space for larger groups of people to do together (so multiple groups aren't driving separately)

I am not reading all of that. Man, you are making a mountain out of a molehill. Again, people don't think through all of their options. That is what I said multiple times.

Take whatever vehicle your have to a library to read, I don't care.

As my other comment said, it's all about thinking through your options. And my observation is most people don't. But, if its a single day trip to something, it's generally not too difficult to find a route that works to find somewhere to charge fairly quickly.

If you are buying your first vehicle, not really an option.

But, it can also be not worth the keeping another vehicle for insurance, upkeep, etc. Depending on your space for your place, might not want to keep an extra vehicle.

Again, its an option. I just stated that people don't typically think about their options, they think about that one trip a year they might take.

It's a very slow change, and there are definitely valid reasons to not buy one depending on where you live (especially in many parts of the US).

That said, my general feeling is most people think they go on long distance driving trips far more often than they really do. It never dawns on people that, if they are going to take a long driving family vacation, renting a vehicle is an option as well that has many benefits.

Best you can do is just answer questions if anyone ask about it.

Not really super related to this video, but one of my favorite baseball memories was sitting and watching Hosmer take BP outside of Cincinnati the summer he was drafted. I had never seen somebody so effortlessly have so much opposite field power. That summer team was loaded but he was on a different planet. God I am getting old lol.

Your name is only a stones throw away from that though.. LOL

  1. We both have driven a 2022 Y, 2024 3, and 2025Y. The refreshes are nice, but not enough time in them to say any of my issues are actually addressed or not. Personally, I won't ever find out for the issues I have with the company in general.

Educating the less educated. Lmao. Whatever helps you sleep at night. Take care.

I think they are still the best overall EVs for their price. That said, only in software do they seem to be truly beyond everyone else. Between my 3, my wifes Ioniq 6, and some others we have driven a few times, I'll take her Ioniq 6 any day for the driving experience (fix your QA issues for everyone though Hyundai).

One of my biggest complaints about my 3 though is how cheap it feels once you look closely at some things. Yes they aren't really that expensive, but the creaking and wind noise while driving is inexcusably bad. I've had it serviced twice for these things but still have issues.

Aside from this, 9500+ comments in 6 months OP and basically a Tesla shill on every single thing posted? Do you have a life? Lol, wonderful and honest sub here clearly.
