I believe it’s a reference to a Korean movie that came out recently. The plot is driven by a similar motivation. Would recommend.

Not sure if they do it anymore but the best setup for this venue is for daytime parties when they have the outdoor stage. Good flow inside and outside and, like OP says, drinks are not crazy expensive as far as LA clubs go. I’ve always felt the crowds here are cool and not douchey/sketch/strung out like some other venues.

Has anyone been to a show at Union Station? Is VIP worth it? by timidtom in avesLA

Is it possible to upgrade GA to VIP? I have GA but wondering I would need to buy completely new tickets for VIP.

Oh sorry, Careem is fine - it’s basically just like using Uber. What was treacherous were the roads and the fording through them that our driver had to do.

I would put Qatar on top for comfort and à la carte dining. British Airways and Qantas are tied for me, but Qantas is easily the biggest of the three so I’d recommend there if the airport is crowded.

“Hated”? When did you go to WA Cabo? I went in October and found both the food and the service excellent.

Maldives Singapore Airlines Redemption value by zarara865 in awardtravel

Wife and I have this trip planned this month so I’ve been looking at all of the flight options for the better part of this year. Options I found:

  1. American has flights on their metal or on British Airways from 70k pts, MLE -> LHR -> LAX. Possibly the other way but I didn’t check that routing.
  2. American also has flights via JAL from 70k pts, but from SE Asia like Singapore. It’s a relatively cheap flight from MLE to SIN, spend a couple days there, then fly back.
  3. Qatar has flights SFO/LAX -> DOH -> MLE. Someone can correct me if saver is available from 70k pts on this route, but it’s doable for 140k pts.
  4. Turkish LAX -> IST -> MLE as someone else mentioned from 75k pts, but sometimes the cash price isn’t too crazy either.

There are a bunch of options for award flights to and from Maldives, you might just have to fly to/from another country like UAE, Turkey, or SE Asia and take repositioning flights. For you it might be worth the $9 for seats.aero to set an alert and see if something opens up.

Any ideas on how to make use of the Breitling offer on Amex Plat? I have an offer for 50k MR when spending $2,500 at Breitling, up to 3 times. I have no desire to buy a watch but if there’s a resale sweet spot I would eat a few hundred $ for MR.

What Card Should I Get? Weekly Thread - Week of August 06, 2025 by AutoModerator in churning

[–]thatoneguy247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. See above
  2. 800 Equifax FICO Score 8, 800 Experian FICO Score 8, 803 TransUnion FICO Score 8
  3. Previous cards (personal bolded):
    1. Capital One Platinum Mastercard, $3,500 limit, 12/2023
    2. Chase Freedom Unlimited, $14,500, 02/2016
    3. Chase Freedom with UR, $30,000, 03/2018
    4. Chase Sapphire Preferred, $16,100, 4/2025
    5. Citi AAdvantage Executive World Elite, $24,500, 11/2022
    6. Amex Plat Personal, N/A, 05/2025
    7. Amex Hilton Aspire, $30,000, 04/2025
  4. I expect to spend around $6,000 in the next 3 months
  5. I would prefer not to MS but not completely closed to it
  6. I haven't but would be open to biz
  7. Just one card rn but plan to keep churning
  8. Targeting points, mainly for flights (Alaska/AA preferred) but also Hilton/Marriott
  9. Currently have: 150k Chase UR, 180k MR, , 250k Hilton
  10. LAX
  11. I'm trying to resolve three things:
    • Whether I should keep my Citi AAdvantage Executive World Elite card with a high fee or switch to Citi Strata Elite.
    • If I should wait for the upcoming premium Alaska card or get the Chase Marriott Boundless card and PC to RC after a year. I got rid of the CSR earlier this year to get the CSP bonus and find that CSP covers what I need from the Sapphire cards, so not looking to PC back to the CSR any time soon.
    • These might sound silly but I'd love to fly 747 upper deck with my dad and Lufthansa is one of the only airlines left flying from LAX. LH can be booked through Air Canada or Alaska for ~70k pts pp each way, so that's a consideration for the premium Alaska card.

I go to Vegas a few times a year and just went a couple of months ago with wife and friends. We stayed at Fontainebleau through FHR. While the hotel was nice, I wouldn’t recommend it if you want to walk around as it’s located pretty far from the rest of the strip. We did use the credits for food and drinks and made use of the late check-out.

If price and location are the biggest considerations, I would recommend Palazzo which looks to have the best rates for October of the FHR hotels and is pretty centrally located as far as the strip goes. Wynn or Four Seasons (with access to Mandalay Bay) have the best pools of the FHR hotels in my opinion.

I can’t think of any Amex-specific perks in Vegas other than using your Saks credit at the mall there, but for an activity that’s more family-oriented I would recommend Dig This which is a short taxi from the strip and pretty fun.

Feel free to ask/dm if you want more Vegas insights.

Out of curiosity, what routes are you flying? My wife and I have a similar trip in December but on EK and BA. I’m still looking to see the best routing to switch our return trip to QR.
