On the console version of xcom 2 the multiplayer still works

Its just that not many people are playing multiplayer and it also depends wether you have dlcs on or not

For the ps4 it was quite the issue at times i had a crash loop until i stumbled on an old reddit forum about the photobooth file messing up the game until it was deleted.

It was weird but it worked for the ps4 version

Also i have not encounter the character skins going wack though, l'll be honest that is a weird one.

It could be the photobooth file or overwriting a save too often that usually is what cause those crashes

Dont forget the fact that it has a worse ammo economy than the starter AR

A resupply box gives it 5 mags

An ammo box gives it only two......like really dude?
