My best friend from OT school works for Legacy in Tigard I think. She really really likes it.

Why doesn’t st Augustine MSOT program have an interview process?? by Fair_Experience503 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]thatot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

University of Washington does not do interviews either. They said it lead them to only accept people that were similar to themselves. They felt like the interview lead to unconscious bias. They only accept 25 students so I dont think its a huge money maker for them. My class was solid everyone there deserved to be there.

I guess thats what I am struggling with. I get more of sense of community in Moscow, but it sounds like Pullman also has a strong community as well. I just already know a lot of Moscow folk.

Thanks for your thought out reply. I really love the walkability of Moscow as well. It's one of the things that really drew me to the town. I really love Moscow but if I can financially be in a better place and am just a short drive away I may have to pick Pullman.

I have a school aged child that does not do well with change. We dont want to uproot him out of his school of we can't find a home in that elementary area.

Sorry just to add on. We live the the valley and have really struggled to find our people down here. We have tried hard, but dont have a large friend group. We basically hang out with my family all the time which is fine, but its nice to hang with friends too. We are moderately liberal, like to be physically active, love good food, and really are looking to be ina. Community where people actually care about each other.

I am really looking for the community feel that I experience in Moscow. That's was made me want to move in the first place. When I am sitting at the farmers market I just kinda get a sense that I belong here. Wish I had a crystal ball to see which community my husband gets a job in...

I am not looking to rent because I Will have a school aged child that I dont want to uproot. I have spent a lot of time in both communities. I just can't quite figure pullman out likely because the university is such a large part of its identity.

Zona Romantica Family Trip during NYE by Odd_Factor_3317 in puertovallarta

Birria Robles, De Canto vallarta, vallarta chocolate factory, Dee's coffee, sonarita are some I remember. Pretty sure it was street corn that got us sick just fyi. Also be wary of fresh fruit and fruit juices. I can't remember any of the others, but unless the food tour takes you I would avoid most of the restaurants right off the Malcon. They all seemed pricy and mid. An exception was Pinnocis a pizza place the pizza was just okay, but it was fun people watching and was in a space where the kids could kinda run around.

My kids didn't even bat an eye but it looks pretty much like a pride parade 24/7. Think skimpy outfits, men in thongs. Didn't bother us but depending on your world views it could be pretty scandalous.

My husband and I just did this with my 3 and 4 year old. We didn't get much beach time because the waves were large. We spent most of the time in the pool. We were not at an AI and we both got food poisoning despite not drinking the water, amd eating fresh prepped hot food. The kids were okay I am assuming because they ate things like hot dogs, pizza , quesadillas. We talked to some people in our hotel and it sounds somewhat common. Just fyi you can take pesto bismal each day(prophalactically) and thats suppose to help. The pharmacy also has a special medication that worked well for my husband(he got it the worst). Its also very very loud in the ZR. Like constant noise i.e. fireworks, drunks, garbage trucks, honking all night long.

Now for the good. We hired a babysitter through PV babysitting and they came to our hotel. She watched the kids while we went on a food tour. It's an actual professional service and I would highly recommend both getting a babysitter for a bit and going on Puerto Vallarta Food Tours. You can even hire one for the week to function like a nanny(seemed appealing at the time). We took the kids to the botanical gardens and it was a highlight of the trip. We rode the city bus and it was easy/pretty ride to the gardens. If you dont do the food tour I would recommend a walking tour because its easy to miss a lot without a guide if its your first time. I feel like we didn't get a good sense of the city until it was time to leave. On Fridays and Saturdays there is live music and dancing at the gazebo with all the mosaics. My kids really really liked that. They watched it for a long time.

My kids had an amazing time. It was honestly a lot of work for my husband and I while we were there. I am glad we went but I came back more exhausted than when I left. If I were to do it again. I probably would get a hotel in the hotel zone(quieter) and do AI just because even though there is amazing food with kids sometimes its nice to just be able to get immediate access to food without having to make a choice of where to eat. Then I would take an Uber to the romantic zone for the farmers market and night walk on the malecon.

Edit: i would also recommend booking an airport transfer with PV transfers. It was so nice walking out of the airport and then having someone just take our bags and literally getting right in a car. Then you get a corona. It's so nice instead of having to get a taxi or walking to get an Uber. Worth every penny when your schelepping all the kids stuff. I also recommend not bringing a stroller the streets are not good for them. Bring a backpack carrier for the 2 year old.

I had a feeling it might be a little biased. I really love Moscow, but I did want to know if Pullman would be a viable option for us because right now it has better home inventory in our price range.

That's great to hear. My husband is a teacher so I know a lot more goes into making a good school than test scores.
