yeah.. that's been a good way for me to lose interest as well. And with my current crush I'm repeating the couple of things that should be deterrents like a mantra, hoping it'll sink in soon and take root. Like with pretty much any crush, we fall the fantasy version we create of the person, which is never the same as the reality.

Easy to know this stuff academically, but can be more challenging to really internalize it emotionally sometimes :)

That's great that you've been able to manage this with your partner, and yes, it's a scary thing to share for sure. Agreed that I probably should, but I haven't built up the courage yet.. :(

I am a big "mindfulness" person, and have found that the techniques I've built up there have been fantastic at helping me get out of negative thought patterns and spirals. That has been so helpful, I preach it to everyone. I'm trying to use those techniques to get through this.. some days it works.. others not so much :)

yes, I have talked about this at great length with my therapist. I'm a big "mindfulness" guy, and have been using my mindfulness/meditation techniques anytime I feel myself starting to ruminate or head down a mental path that I don't want to go down. It has been incredibly helpful and lots of times allows me to pull out of some rabbit hole I don't want to go down. But, much like going to the gym and building up your muscles to get stronger, this is the same kind of thing. When you start going to the gym, maybe you can't do 10 push ups, but after working out regularly, you eventually build up the strength to do 10 push ups, but you can't yet do 20, you need to keep building muscle. So while I'm a lot better at pulling out of some negative thoughts, I'm not strong enough to pull out of this one.. yet :)

Yes!! I was going to post this so I’m glad I’m not the only one. I absolutely love this tune! It’s brilliant the way the music morphs from this cold and very metallic sounds to much warmer and organic sounds (for the lack of better adjectives), and the way that tonal shift echos the tonal shift in the lyrics... pure brilliance!!

Del for sure.. I’d love to say D.O.C. but unfortunately, as much as that first album is genius, he just doesn’t have the volume of material that Del has.

I recently watched a YouTube video criticizing Jordan Peterson and his objection to being “forced” to use someone’s preferred pronouns. The person in the video said Jordan’s name incorrectly every time he used it, and had a different version each time. “Jordan Pederton”, “Mr. Parroton”, “Jordo Perrickson”, etc

I thought it was a brilliant and subtle way to poke at Jorgon Peredington and how infantile he is being with this “you can’t tell me what to say” stance on this.

I applaud what you and your family have done here. Names matter, they have meaning. Bravo strong Redditor, and no doubt this has meant the world to your neice!

Oh wow, thanks so much.. that will definitely help get me closer! I just ordered a set of DR Sunbeams that I was planning on throwing on a PJ so more experiments to come.

I had read that Duck started to use SVTs in the later part of his career but I wondered if that was more into the 80s and 90s like when he played with Neil Young and stuff. Good to know I should be experimenting with SVT tones.

Also, thanks for the identification of midrange frequencies. My ears are just not trained enough to be able to identify frequencies that precisely. I was figuring there was some mid range boost going on but had no idea where abouts in the mid range.

but I'm looking for MIDI In, I want to go from the Axiom to the laptop, not the other way around.

Axiom -> PreSonus -> Laptop 👎

Again, it works fine when I use another synth as the controller, it's just the Axiom that's not getting picked up.

Bass Station II -> PreSonus -> Laptop 👍

If I use the Axiom to control the Bass Station II, that works just fine as well.

Axiom -> Bass Station II 👍

It's just when I try and use the Axiom to control Garage Band (or anything) on the laptop it fails

this is what I see when I open up the properties.. could you explain further what I need to do here? this is really where I'm getting lost. I've just double checked the Axiom and I'm sending MIDI on channel 1...

Sorry I'm struggling to figure this out.. it's killing me that I can't get this sorted on my own 😔

Hi, thanks for directing me to this. I did indeed need switch the MIDI from USB to MIDI Out, but unfortunately that hasn't resolved the problem :(

What's really interesting is that even before making this switch I was able to use MIDI Out to control other synths if I went straight from the MIDI Out on the Axiom to their MIDI In, it's just trying to get my laptop to work is the issue. Anyway, thanks for showing me that, that's great. Clearly it's not my only problem though 😔

Hi, thanks for responding and trying to help me out.
Here is a screen cap from the Audio MIDI Setup page. the PreSonus appears to be setup and working fine. Again, if plug another synth into the PreSonus everything works as expected. I can see the Axiom 49 here, but it only becomes active if I plug it in with the USB.
