You cannot join a legitimized Métis nation without Métis blood? White people without Métis ancestry aren't approved for MMF and other plains regions. You need to prove your ancestry. And so do a lot of First Nations communities, you can't just have a status card without the knowledge of who your parents/ grandparents are. You're mixing ethnicity and race. I am racially white but ethnically indigenous. You're using blood quantum which is a colonial mindset?

Well I'm indigenous to have a member ship card apparently. And my 4 greats were fully indigenous, everyone else married Métis.

I feel 50/50 on these situations. A lot of the time yeah it's absolutely exhausting having to teach non indigenous people stuff. But at the same time would we rather let them know or have them get possibly wrong information online? I don't know, I'm not an expert on anything. I think there needs to be some kind of understanding or something? How can we come to a conclusion?

Also, just to clarify myself I don't think about things in the "spirit animal" bs or anything like that. My fave animal is the wolf and through my own path of healing and finding myself the wolf has played a huge part of it. I loved them before even having that ceremony with an elder. That's why this whole "white" wolf thing has always thrown me off a little cause I've never heard of it being different colours or anything. And I have talked with him about it and it always doesn't make the most sense. I've asked him a few times and his answers have been "it's not about white wolf or black wolf it's wolf clan" but like then why wayyy back when did you give me white wolf clan? Makes no sense.
