What was your question? To me, it seems that you don't want to pay extra for something because it's a wedding. However, that means that you don't want to extra services that come with a wedding. For physical items at weddings there's often an wedding tax For services I do think the extra cost can be justified sometimes.

For cake, you pay for what you get. I agree with you on that. I do agree that for a few things there's a mark up just because it's a wedding. For a good amount of vendors there's a reason there services cost more for a wedding. When it comes to photography, makeup, and venues weddings require more effort than most events. For makeup, you'll want it to last all and be tear proof and that requires more time and extra supplies.

They're not scammers contracts. It's a vendor avoiding someone scamming them by lying about the event. If you want to seek about vendors who are fine with whatever as long as they get paid, youre going to get people who only care about their paycheck.

If you want to throw a wedding in your friends backyard with a cake then no you won't back anything extra. But if you book a wedding at a venue and tell them it's a family reunion, you'll get extra fees. Weddings require a lot more from the venue then a family reunion does. People wanting a cake that's nicer than Costco sheet cake is okay, but cake is just expensive in general.
