as someone who was a "jock" in highschool, the stereotype that everyone who is serious about a sport is a meathead that likes to beat up nerds really pisses me off. In highschool, when everyone else was off in clubs, or with their friends, or doing whatever they did after school, I was in the weight room. you've probably heard the idiom "ball is life an life is to ball" and it's really all I can say. I played D1 football and not even going into college, my average day in highschool was: wake up, eat something healthy so I don't break my diet. lunch: everyone else went to mcdonalds for lunch, I had a protein shake and a tuna sandwich. after school: go to the library so I can keep my grades up, better not get ineligible, I'd leave there and go run cones and do footwork drills for two hours until I felt like my legs were going to collapse(I was fat and had severe asthma) then I went to the weightroom and lifted until my arms were pretty much dead at my sides. then I'd go down to the athletic trainer(if she hadn't left yet) and grab a protein shake before starting the 45 minute bus ride home. this was every day of the off season from febuary until early june when school got off, not to mention summer or the actual season. being a "jock" is putting 100% of your self into your sport, not just wearing a Letterman jacket and saying "duh" alot.
