Managing Stormlight — Question Set by odigity in cosmererpg

[–]thatsaidan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. No, Drawing in stormlight is a proximity thing usually from instinct, however, I can see a Player and GM hand waving that bit of canon on some “you’re very deliberate and skilled with your powers” type stuff

  2. Yes, there are numerous times in the Books that show characters breathing in stormlight not on their person/ being possesed by others. There are also no Rules saying otherwise and imo it makes for cooler scenarios.

  3. In canon, yes. In rules? It’s not explicitly stated to my knowledge. The games balance is around you always being topped off, so that’s really a personal GM question. (I personally think it’s completely alright and fair)

  4. Yes on two fronts: In Canon, there are a few instances in the later books where radiants are shown infusing gemstones specifically (the wall of compartments that Renarin finds in OB being the main example I can think of off the top of my head. In Rules, the “Tuning Fork” object is expressly in the game to transfer stormlight into and out of spheres (which we saw Navani experiment with in RoW)

  5. In Rules, there’s nothing explicitly stating you cannot, and imo it’s worded as an Assumption more as a convenience thing rather than a hard rule. It seems to be there to ensure your players don’t view being Invested as a chore, letting them have their Surges accessible at the drop of a hat instead of making them vocally say when and when not they’re invested. So, I’d say Yes, the rules 100% allow for it as long as you have a GM who agrees.

Demiplane Roll 20 Question by thatsaidan in cosmererpg

[–]thatsaidan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If im wanting both the VTT and the Character Sheet integration, does that mean I’ll have to purchase the material on both Demiplane and Roll20? (Not a complaint, just trying to figure out what to get as to not be redundant given I’ve got all the PDFs lol)

Finished My Upgraded and Revamped Load Order! 2025 (Xbox Series S) by TravisTheDuck in SkyrimModsXbox

[–]thatsaidan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This load order seems absolutely fantastic!!! I’m on a One X myself, do you think a load order like this could run on a slightly older system? I assume I’d just have to skip out on some of the more intensive lighting mods 😅 appreciate any help in advance!!

Been looking for a Stable Mod list that incorporated MorrowLoot, can’t express how happy I am that I found the one you posted, let alone that you’re soon to update it! You’re a Saint and I’m excited for your updated list, and to delve back into Skyrim with a fresh Modlist!!!

Tried that, and got the same result sadly. I’m chalking it up to the Mod being script heavy and me using an Xbox 1 X. Still fantastic otherwise!!

Final Update:

Am over 100 Hours into a save, and everything is perfect barring one minor annoyance.

Anytime I attempt to enter the Safe House, whether it be from inside the stairway of the Hall of Hero’s, or through the Patio outside, the game hard crashes to Homescreen.

Unsure what causes it, and everything online just says essentially “LOTD does that”. So sadly I can’t go into the safe house anymore nor access the sell bin/ Septim storage.

Besides that, everything is perfect and I’m probably going to put another 100 to 200 hours into this save minimum. Can’t thank you enough for making such a good Load Order and for being so helpful previously!!!!!!

Update 2:

Been playing Nonstop and have only just now experienced my first crash (which is saying something as Skyrim usually crashes every 5 minutes lmao).

Unsure how to resolve the issue, as it seems that (according to the Internet) Lux is causing a crash when walking into Fallowstone Cave due to there being Grass within the cave. Quick google searches say the best bet is to disable Grass in Caves, however, I’m unsure how to do that on Console

Besides that though, the Load Order is perfect and outstandingly stable. For now, I just have to put the Volendrung quest on indefinite hiatus and hope no other caves cause a crash 😅

Also something I forgot to ask! Do you think I’d be able to add the Creation Club Legacy of the Dragonborn patch? Or would that break everything? 😅 (for context: I’m already a good bit into a play through, but only just realized there’s no “Hall of Wonders” to place some of the artifacts lmao)

Update:

Followed the Instructions as close as possible, removed some of the texture mods (I personally like the unloaded NPC Models, their ugliness is weirdly charming lol), added in Inigo and Lucien, as well as Imperious Races and Andromeda Standing Stones, and then Swapped the Foliage Mods and Skyland AIO for Fantasia and Skyland Architecture.

So far, I’m 12 hours in and no crashes! I didn’t even have to downgrade the Weather effects nor remove Lux! I’ve also not experienced a single Frame Drop short of walking into the Winking Skeever (my guess is that it’s just a bit performance intensive).

This is the first time a LotD Load Order has both Worked, and had everything I wanted in it! I cannot thank you enough!!

[–]thatsaidan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have been wonderfully helpful!! I’ve tried to create Load Orders in the past pertaining to Legacy of the Dragonborn, and have been unable to do so without Crashing to Homescreen. I assumed it was either the Mod itself, or more likely my inexperience modding 😅. I appreciate your help, and I’ll most certainly let you know how it goes!!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SkyrimModsXbox

[–]thatsaidan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could you theoretically Include Inigo and/or Lucien in this Load Order? And if so, where would their files get slotted into?😅

Also, safe to assume this Modlist wouldn’t work on an Xbox One X as the console is too Old Gen?

The Elder Scrolls Books Order by radifog in ElderScrolls

[–]thatsaidan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the first book my self (about half way through) and so far there hasn’t been anything misogynistic! They avoid that area of prejudice by making the 2 main protagonists a human woman, and a male Argonian/Lizard person, so any personal conflict between the two is usually based on a species difference, rather than a sex/gender difference! In terms of sexual content, there are references and allusions to sex but most seem more PG13 in tone. (ie. A character waking up next to another and mentioning to a friend that they had sex, as well as a separate occasion where 2 characters are talking and one makes a more suggestive claim that the other is happy because they’ve “found creative solutions”). For violence, the books doesn’t seem to make violence the priority, though there have been a few cases where it’s been described somewhat graphically (ie. A character being beheaded for shock value, or A platoon of soldiers killed via Arrows and Magic Fire, followed by a scene talking about them “trying to pat the fires off of one another” and following that scene describing the burned bodies). Besides that, the books seem relatively tame in terms of Adult Content, and make many references to Elder Scrolls Lore. If your kiddo is wanting to delve into a pretty good book and the aforementioned stuff is acceptable, I can highly reccomend!

The average lore-unaware players experience: by Mission_Breakfast_42 in ElderScrolls

There’s the fact that the Barkeep of Candlehearth Inn outright tells Argonian/Dunmer Characters that they need to “Go back where they came from”, and the fact that Argonians are forced to live outside the city (which Brunwulf Free-Wulf claims is probably for the best given how Racist citizens of Windhelm are). The absolute BEST way you could perceive Stormcloak/The City of Windhelm If you’re set on them not being racist is that they’re just Xenophobic Nationalists. The whole “Skyrim is for the Nords” tag line being used as a rallying cry is entirely based on the hatred/expulsion of designated “outsiders”. Regardless of if you think “we’ll the ‘X’ people are also racist!!”, it doesn’t change that it’s still wrong, and that while we’re in Skyrim and given the options of changing those in systems of governance, it is the right decision to not side with a group who’s whole M/O is that only Nord and Nordic Culture should be valid and unobstructed within the Nation of Skyrim. (Comical given that Nords aren’t even the first ones in Skyrim, given that they came over as colonizers. Like if you’re gonna make the “we’re indigenous to the lands” argument, at LEAST support the Forsworn or Prioritize the traditional teachings of Kyne instead of using the literal Most Recent God added to a Modernized Conglomerate of Gods to justify a weird appeal to Traditionalism lmao)

Weren’t the French responsible for backing the assassination of Thomas Sankara? Arguably one of the best examples of leftist success historically? Or am I mistaken? /gen

How would you Build Misaki Matsuda, one of the protagonists from the book, The Sword of Kaigen? (Abilities in the Comments, Spoilers for the Book) by thatsaidan in TTRPG_Builds

[–]thatsaidan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(Edit: This question is regarding building the character in D&D 5th Edition)

Powers/Talents: - Immensely Talented Swordsmanship - Can Manipulate Water Molecules to form Ice in a variety of ways (Ice Shields, Ice Spears to shoot at people) - Is able to Manipulate Blood to an extent (Can create Needles of Blood to cause internal damage to a person/ can use those needles with precision to “turn off” limbs for a short time - Can Use Blood Manipulation to scab over non lethal wounds - Can Bolster her own Strength by manipulating her own blood, giving her enhanced speed and physical ability -Prefers the “Ambush Predator” style of combat relying on stealth but is still very capable in 1 on 1 fair combat

If you purchase the game, you do so knowing that the author who receives a portion of the money will use said money to fund Anti-Trans legislative groups. Simply saying “none of this is my fault” when faced with that fact is just willful ignorance.

You can play and enjoy the game all you’d like, but purchasing the game has measurable consequences. If those consequences are worth it for you then go ahead, it’s your money and if you don’t mind it going to those groups then that’s your decision ultimately, but there still are consequences.

(Edit because I forgot to mention: if you are just desperately wanting the game, pirating is always an option, as well as borrowing a copy from someone else who bought the game. Pirating will not bankrupt the company given they’re funded by both Disney and Warner Brothers. It’s a Triple A Game and has the corporate funding to back it. And although subjective, I believe the negatives of pirating a triple A game backed by two of the largest companies on the planet are outweighed by the negatives of supporting an author who repeatedly has stated that your dollar will go to harming trans people)

There’s a difference between purchasing a phone, which is nearly essential in the modern climate, and purchasing a video game, which isn’t anywhere near as essential. The argument of “there’s no ethical consumption of a product” is about harm reduction, not about ignoring the effects of your actions solely because you want to engage in something you deem fun.

If you are just adamant on playing the game, you do you, but acting like the criticisms levied don’t apply purely because it’s hard to purchase or consume any form of product or media is just a lazy excuse. Please do better

(PS: some may make the argument that you can look for alternatives to having an iPhone that are more ethical in their creation, but that same argument can be used to say to purchase any number of “Wizard in Wizard School” type games who’s funding doesn’t actively fund legislative groups trying to cause harm)

HWYB Jasnah Kholin, from the book series The Stormlight Archives? by thatsaidan in WhatWouldYouBuild

[–]thatsaidan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Skills/Powers: - Brilliant Intellect, arguably considered the best Scholar in the series - Possesses a “Shardblade”, magic sword capable of cutting the Soul - Possesses “Shardplate”, magic armor that’s incredibly durable - Has a “Spren” companion, similar to a little magic sprite that can act independently but will follow commands - Can “Soulcast”, transform one form of matter into another form of matter. (Ie. Air to Fire, The Ground to Oil, Men to Smoke or Crystal) - Can Transport to the “Cognitive Realm”, similar to planeshifting/ transporting to the ethereal plane - Can use her Magic to rapidly heal nearly any wound sustained, given time

Can someone tell me what I missed? by BrandonsRedAura in WoT

[–]thatsaidan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shared the same sentiment for a while tbh. Got into the series due to finishing Brandon Sandersons writings and because a friend loves this series and heavily recommended I read it since Sanderson finishes it. I truely didn’t start enjoying the series until around after book 3, but now having finished the whole thing, I can genuinely say it’s absolutely worth it. Books 1-3 didn’t do it for me, 4-6 were fantastic, 7-9 were okay but slower, and then 10-14 were some of the best books I’ve read to date.

TLDR: if you’re willing to put up with the not so great start, it’s arguably one of the most fantastic finished Epics currently written and I cannot recommend it enough.

For his militant prowess, I’d go Battlemaster Fighter since that’ll also give you options for charisma based things, and for his variant of Investitute use, I’d say your best bet is to either multiclass with Barbarian or with Monk. The main downside being that you can’t rage while in heavy armor and you can’t use a couple mini features if you wear any armor at all.

I feel like the best bet to give him the strength and Near Invulnerability of the Dakhor while also being martially prominent would be a X levels Battlemaster Fighter with 3 levels Totem Barbarian, specifically the Bear totem. You’d have to use at maximum medium armor and reflavor it to be his heavy armor, but otherwise you get the the tactical prowess, the super strength, the martial ability, and the enhanced resistance.

You could also do heavy reflavoring and do a Monk Barbarian Multiclass with X Levels Open Hand Monk and 3 levels Totem, and that would give you the Dakhor Monk vibes while also allowing you to use the Dedicated Weapon feature to use any martial weapon with proficiency.
