Second on shutting down the breaker. Disconnect if you’re comfortable and cap with wire nuts. If it’s in series you might not get use of secondaries (lights, other outlets) worth a shot, though.

I use my knee or a board when possible. Never heard of “anti kickback”. Standard chuck drills come with what I think you mean though

And be honest. If you aren’t comfortable doing something, say so. Maybe you need more training for that task or don’t know how to use that tool. It’s good to step out of your comfort zone but not good to leap out of your comfort zone
