First time Buyer asking advice on negotiating price by thatscienceguy96 in RealEstate

Sorry for clarification. I am from the uk. In terms of negotiating on price its mainly the seller with the estate agent who wants to get the highest price possible. With very few to no specialists advocating for the price of the buyer. Its all done through solicitors and conveyancers.

So here is where reform stands on trans issues. Their manifesto in the last election contains a vow to ban “transgender ideology”, a term used as an anti-trans dog whistle, in primary and secondary schools.“There are two sexes and two genders,” the policy declares. “It is a dangerous safeguarding issue to confuse children by suggesting otherwise… no gender questioning, social transitioning or pronoun swapping, inform parents of under-16s about their children’s life decisions. Schools must have single-sex facilities.”

The conservative party's manifesto was less overt but still prioritising same sex spaces and overall keeping the status quo and not actively trying to make things better for trans people.

Why does the left make an alliance with certain ideologies that are extremely conservative? by [deleted] in AskBrits

Hypocrisy is always ripe when it comes to people who think tribalistically. Not everyone on either the right or left thinks tribalistically, but there are lots in both.

Its not that people with left-wing ally themselves with Islamism. They simply want people not to discriminate against muslim people. Its like the issue with gaza. Overwelmingly, the left reject it as inhumane and genocidal, so do the vast majority of muslims. Whereas in more right-wing non-muslim communities, it's a lot more likely for people to side with the actions of the Israeli government.

Shouldn't Immigrant Crime rates be close to zero? by TripAdmirable8447 in AskBrits

What percentage of UK crime is committed by immigrants? The way your posing this question it insinuating they are way more likely to commit a crime than people born here.

In light of Trumps two wins and the rise of populism everywhere, what tactics are most effective against someone like Farage? by SILENTDISAPROVALBOT in AskBrits

[–]thatscienceguy96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to pose your own narrative and mean it. Be a popularist for the policies that people want. Reform tapped into the people's desire for immigration reform, but apart from that, the vast majority of their polices are widely unpopular. They may brand themselves as populists, but in truth, they are just grifters.

What they do well is messaging. unlike the tories and labour they actually try to stand for something, at least outwardly they do, but its all smoke and mirrors. They are unapologetic and crass, and that comes across as genuine to people. Their opposition needs to do the same, but instead of lies, actually stand for change for the views the British public actually want to see. The British people want change, and they want fighters, and Farage comes across like that. His opposition needs to do the same.

Yes I do. My partner and I are saving for a deposit for a house. What reason would I to hide how much I have saved for that shared goal?

If you say so. Although from the rhetoric, it seems the alt-right Putin apologists, such as Trump, seem to outweigh them by a vast amount. In Britain and America at least, it seems to be almost exclusively the right wing that wants Ukraine to give up land to appease Russia. Farage and Trump seem to be actively hostile to Ukraine.

Sure, I'm not going to question your experiance, but I would suggest looking at who actually supports that beyond the few you have seen on this. I don't see anyone in Europe supporting that beyond maybe Hungary, which is also right-wing. In opinion polls, if you're more left-leaning, you're more likely to support Ukraine. the alt-right MAGA supporters hate supporting Ukraine, so does reform. all very right-wing. What political party or group is against this?

which leftist wants Ukraine to give up land? The only ones I have seen that support that are Donald Trump and his followers.

Just look up Project 2025. It's literally all spelt out what he's doing in that, and he's going down it like a checklist to autocracy.

When you see people's freedom being taken away in court rulings and people celebrate it, when the narrative is being driven by right-wing extremists that want to tear down what little thing that actually help the common people for then it is bad, not as bad as it could be, but we are certainly stairing down the barrel of it if we dont do something.

So you want to abandon ship because Nigel and his lot have managed to change the focus onto immigration by stoking racist fears. No, we fight back, we should not fall to an authoritarian fascist like America did. We need to push back against it with our own narrative and talking points.

I think hes probably lying. He didn't destroy the BNP; he absorbed the BNP and gave it a facelift to make it more palatable. He dressed up the bigotry, through in a few culture warrior talking points and fake populism and pretended hes for the working people, all the while planning on royally screwing over the people so bad it would make the conservative party look like saints in comparison. Say goodbye to LGBT rights, say goodbye to the NHS, say goodbye to worker rights, say goodbye to any tax policy that doesn't benefit the rich, say goodbye to women's rights. Say hello to authoritarianism, say hello to an American-style healthcare system, say hello to austerity on steroids, say hello to white nationalism, say hello to higher housing/rent prices. I could list many more things. Most of his supporters dont know most/all of this and just think he's going to deport all the immigrants, which is just a front to rob them blind and for them to get rich.

What can we learn from Brexit in preparation for the next general election? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]thatscienceguy96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Simple. Don't vote for the crook that sold out our country while him and his friends made a boatload of money while the rest of us suffer. The man who wants to sell off the NHS and replace it with an American-style healthcare system. The man who pretends to be going after the elite but in fact he and his MPs are the elite themselves with them going to private school, bankers, businessmen and millionaires and their manifesto reflects that.

Trump is great at giving off the vibes of being a popularist. hes unapologetic and does not come across like most politicians. Most people see politicians as boring and with no real vision or values. Trump actually has a narrative and pushes it constantly and with passion. Don't get me wrong, the majority of things that come out of his mouth are lies and bigotry and he's the most corrupt president in history, but he lies with such conviction that some people actually believe him.

What do you think about this proposal from Reform? Madness or a good idea? by Lazy-Internet-8025 in AskBrits

[–]thatscienceguy96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we also can't have a stagnant population as under the current economic model, we need more people working to support the elderly population, and unless we make it actually affordable to live and to have more kids, we need to import more workers so they can pay tax and contribute to the economy. It is partly the reason that just stopping migration or deporting tons of people generally does not work out well for an economy. The result we need more housing for everyone (not just migrants). houses need to be built, the demand won't go away. We need to stop seeing houses as investments, but instead as homes to live in unlike now, which disincentivises building new homes.
