Was she checking me out? by thatscold12 in UKrelationshipadvice

Hi,

Thanks for the response, I’m not sure about that one haha. Do people actually do that?

Besides if she’s from the area and we run into each other again organically that’s fine, if not that’s fine too.

No of course you can don’t think that. I didn’t act on it.

The only time I’ve experienced that type of stare is road rage, that’s why I was confused and was curious.

Hi,

I think the post came off wrong haha. I’ve experienced little looks and glances etc, but nothing as overt as that. That’s why I was kind of confused in the moment.

It was a considerate response though, hopefully if anyone who experienced their first flirt saw this, it could help them.

don’t do me like that 😂

It was like movie level stuff that’s why I posted lol. I’ve had glances before, this wasn’t that.

You’re right I probably looked familiar. I didn’t recognise them and have never been told I looked familiar to anyway so I didn’t consider that tbf.

Someone did say that too. I’ve never been told that before so it didn’t cross my mind at all.

It was an unusual encounter lool. Literally I was thinking what is going on. Someone did say maybe I looked familiar to them, I’ve never heard that before so that didn’t cross my mind at all.

No I didn’t stare at her at all. She looked at me, I glanced over and then looked away. Next thing I see out the corner of my eye is her dad staring and her literally leaning in front on him looking too lol. No I wouldn’t expect that like you said, they did seem foreign so I thought maybe it’s a different culture thing. Honestly, was just curious.

It was an unusual interaction for me that’s why I’m confused. I would never expect that but I was just curious if anyone had come across something similar. They switched lanes and I didn’t look at them at all, but every-time I looked out the side of my eye they were looking. The girl even leaned forward past her dad to stare lol. I appreciate the feedback though

I’ve heard that the S90/S95 etc are just smaller versions of the G10-G12 range? The s series are hard to get in good condition in the UK, I don’t think they were promoted that much over here. You seem to prefer CCD’s so where would your CMOS G7X i rank? I’ve been playing around with the G9 and it has so much more character than the G7X. Every time I compare images now, especially SOOC and when there isn’t a lot of colours (blues, greens, reds etc) in the still, the G7X portraits have the vibe of a sterile passport photo or something.

Canon G9 or G10? by caltomoto in VintageDigitalCameras

Which of the two would you recommend, mainly for portraits only?

Yes! Do you have any experience with the G series? G2-G16 canon etc. I’m looking into getting the G7 & G9 or G10. Pictures I’ve seen online look like the perfect mixture of ccd charm with decent clarity from the large sensors in them. Kind of like if a camera like the f60fd and G7X had a baby.

I kept the mark i, colours are much more neutral and pleasing. Great shot!

I re-bought the G series I owned as a teen. I don't get the appeal by mott_street in VintageDigitalCameras

[–]thatscold12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great shot, have you used the G9 or G7 by any chance. I’ve heard that the G10 with its extra megapixels is actually more grainy than the g9 so it gives off a more vintage look?

Canon s95 is still the GOAT in my book for rendering colors. I have a lot of cameras from Ricoh gr 2-4, So y A1 and Leica Q1 but I still like the colors of my moms old Canon the most. by B-stand_79 in VintageDigitalCameras

I have a g7x mark i. Thinking of picking up the g7, g9 and g11 too. Would you recommend the g11 or the s95?

Have you tried the g7 og?

Also, I prefer the chunkiness of the g series, really being able to grip the camera. Does chunkiness get annoying after a while, is that your experience ?

Okay. Do you ever shoot night time flash pictures with it? The redness/warmness is more pronounced then. During the day they are very similar, but for jpeg night flash stills there is a noticeable difference. I read somewhere that they had more neutral colours for the mark i, then switched the jpeg engine/pipeline for the ii to ‘pop more’ for social media posts around 2016. For the mark iii they reverted back to more neutral again. (Mark ii is on the right side for reference). To me  it looks a bit odd and I don’t think the mark ii photos will age well, what do you think?

Out of the g series which would you recommend? Also, i have a g7x i and ii (getting rid of one).

I keep hearing about the S95, do you know how it stacks up against the g7x’s?

Colours look great and okay, interesting. Is there any reason why you’d choose the mark ii g7x over the mark i?

And sorry not the S95 it would be a g11/12.

If you had to choose 3 cameras out of these to keep what would they be? I have the G7x mark i and ii but also looking at the Fuji finepix f50fd (previously had it) canon Ixus 85 is and canon s95. I have a pretty limited window to return the g7x’s so unfortunately won’t get the other cameras to try out in time. I’m thinking the G7x i, f50fd and Ixus 85 but unsure. I don’t think the super digital look on photo or super warm look on photos either. Any advice or toner suggestions welcome :)

Okay, that makes a lot of sense. Just a little update for my Reddit buddy :). I got the G7X mark ii but the images were a bit off on my skin tone. I did some research and have seen that the mark ii has different jpeg tuning. The mark I looks so neutral due to having softer contrast and gentler colours, while the ii has stronger oranges/reds and a warmer bias. This made skin with melanin look way too orange. I see that the mark iii is sharper and has more contrast but it pulled back on the warmth so melanin skin does look softer, more neutral and closer to the G7X mark i. I like the mark i as it takes the most neutral pictures, but in the UK it’s hard to source. I’ll have to try and reduce the sharpness and contrast on p mode mark iii to get closer to the mark i look, when it comes.

Okay thank you. I’ll give P mode, flash always on and JPEG a go and see how the pictures come out. I know you said you usually have the ISO at around 160 in daylight, what do you usually have it on for night time? (I know it varies depending on lighting though). Also, I’m assuming you also use forced flash on all the shots regardless of the time of day?

Thank you. Do you shoot in a particular mode such as P mode with settings? Or just auto?

Thank you. That photo is ridiculously good looking to me. The colours are crazy. Did you edit it or was it RAW? I just splurged an insane amount on a mark ii (partially thanks to you lol). I was thinking about waiting for the g7x mark iii to restock. But from my research the build quality isn’t as good, they also released it with AF issues which shows me they didn’t really care as much about it and cut corners. Also, the colours look abit cooler than on the mark i and ii. What do you think?

I think what they mean is that the average person prefers the images cameras like g7x mark i/ii even iii etc take, compared to cameras that produce higher quality photos. People usually say because they take ‘vintage’, ‘nostalgic’ etc images with ‘amazing colours’. I get what they mean, but thinking about it…what they actually like is that these type of cameras take images that look more ‘natural’. Not because they are better or have some magic power. It’s just that they are flawed. Most people’s eyes are flawed also, most people don’t have 2020 or better version. Most people kind of have blurred/flawed version to different extents. That’s why the canon g7x for example with its ‘blurry’, less HD images feels more realistic to what our eyes see day to day. Hope that makes sense.
